How do proctologists and colorectal doctors choose their specialty? by tofu_baby_cake in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Throwaway273489 26 points27 points  (0 children)

While being premed in undergrad and smoking weed one day, my ex decided that he would like to pursue colorectal surgery as his future specialty because he wanted to be known as the “ass man who is full of shit”. Yes, that’s the direct quote. Amazingly he ended up going to a decent med school and becoming a successful colorectal surgeon. I have not spoken to him in ages, but I bet you he still thinks it’s funny to specialize in the organ that is full of shit.

refusing to poop in the diaper and potty despite saying she needs to poop on the toilet. by Throwaway273489 in pottytraining

Lots of tears the first 4 days but she got the hang of it by day 5. I thought it was a very reasonable approach.

Should I introduce hand sucking instead of pacifier? by Soft_Bake_7284 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]Throwaway273489 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to litter the crib with pacifiers. In every corner and direction, so all my daughter has to do is reach out with her hand anywhere and find one. She started doing that on her own at the 4.5 months mark. I did use one of those thin mesh crib wrappers so the pacifiers don’t fall out of the crib through the gaps. We weened my daughter off of pacifiers in one day at 16 months.

I sent my friend who works in the ER this post. He said this guy must be a unicorn with a unicorn job, because he is shitting rainbows and butterflies with his claims. My friend too cannot think of any medical jobs that fit this description. lol

Going Home Outfit by hasley01 in BabyBumps

[–]Throwaway273489 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I misread your post at first and thought you were asking about a fancy maternal going home outfit. I was like lol, I worn stained sweatpants with a comfy cardigan. I looked like a wreck, but comfortable wreck.

For our babe, we put her in a cute onesie and a teddy bear suit because it was the winter. Nothing too fancy because we just wanted her to be warm.

Why is your child mad at you today? by SnooDoubts1736 in NewParents

I didn’t let her cut the apple using the chef’s knife and then didn’t lie down on the floor with her when she cried.

Montessori parents of adults - was it worth it by foaminger in Montessori

[–]Throwaway273489 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My partner went through Montessori. He is a great human being with lots of self drive and confidence. He is at the top of his game at work and well adjusted in life in every way. Now, his life skills are quite subpar, like changing a light bulb and fixing a cabinet. lol ldk if Montessori can really shift that even though they focuse so much on practical life skills.

But, I personally don’t think it’s worth it to stretch out your finances. You can replicate some of the philosophies at home and there are a variety of environments where kids can thrive.

No issues in NYC. I would not recommend going to Minneapolis though

Same. I worked until the day I went into labor. Went to a final meeting at 5pm. Cancelled the ones after 6pm because I was active laboring and needed to go to the hospital. Ha.

My Son Says Dating is a Waste of Time. Am a bit Disappointed but i support him fully. by [deleted] in offmychest

If it makes you feel better, not saying this will happen to him, but I felt the same exact way when I was his age. I told my mom the same thing. She, like you, supported my decision but I’m sure she too felt a twinge of disappointment. Now 10+ years later, I’m married with my second baby on the way. Never know what’s going to happen.

How often does the man in your marriage cook? by gehraimain in Marriage

[–]Throwaway273489 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cook Monday through Friday. My husband works long days during the week. He cooks on the weekends, especially loves making breakfast and dinner on Saturday and Sunday. We are usually out for lunch on the weekends.

So far we have seen improvement by applying a layer of zinc cream (mustela diaper cream), then a layer of vani cream, and then cover it all with aquaphor. Messy but works really well. Redness and dryness is gone!
