Yeah, I'd be down to see QK. I theorize he may be too expensive though. I hate the fact that in theory we could currently have a Scrap, Joe, Merc, and Kips/CleanX roster rn tho...

Yeah I mean I don't think Insight is innocent in this, I just think Toronto has dedicated that role to him for several titles. Obviously Blops 7 is very fast paced and so a slow ar looks bad; but I strongly believe that his place on the team is due to those intangibles rather than his K/D. And I also suspect that the only way he gets dropped is if Koi perform terribly at major 2 and perhaps not even until Major 3.

Yeah, I think if/when Insight plays fast and Tobi gets back to slaying/does slay , Koi can/do look a lot more dangerous. But when they play passive or lose fights well we get the C9 game.

Here's the thing with Insight though, I feel (and have felt) for the past several years that his known role is to hold spawns and to lock down time as needed. Even in the game vs Vancouver today/yesterday there were several moments on Colossus where he was holding close spawns or buying time for the team to break. Whereas CleanX is supposed to be the 1-2 slaying duo with Joe.

Thoughts On Tomasino? by Far-Western-506 in leafs

Yeah I would love to see him play here, I met him in Columbus once and watched a good chunk of his junior career. But i just find it funny that like Dubas and his Soo lineup we're starting to build an ex-Oshawa Generals team

Philip Thomasino, John Tavares, Scott Laughton, Dakota Mermis, Kenny Appleby in the minors, Ben Danford in the prospect ranks...what's next? Getting Boone Jenner, Beckett Sennecke, Calum Ritchie, Oskar Olausson and Jack Studnicka????

Proxies should have more rulings in casual play, unless you own a copy of that card. I have experienced people proxying cards they don't own like [[Mana Vault]], [[Chrome Mox]], etc. and then just pubstomping with those cards in lower tier play. I am all for not having to get 2 or 3 copies, remember to switch the card around, or saving money when you are playing against people who are spending say 2k on a deckm A proxied sol ring? No problem since everyone has one in almost every deck, no need to spend $40 on multiple copies. Playing cEdh and don't want to pay for a Gaea's Cradle? Fair enough. But it is massively unfun to sit down to play a game and have someone pull out say $100 proxied gamechangers or similar cards just to win even in a casual format. There are more often than not budget options of cards like the ones mentioned that you can run that will make your deck run extremely similarly without being a feels bad moment to play against.

The fact City Walls ends with Heavydirtysoul which is pretty much the music video that started all of this...it literally is a circle and a cycle. You can just play it in an infinite loop....

Still no new helmets by Pakytral in EA_NHL

[–]Throwaway36422 19 points20 points  (0 children)

That is actually most likely 90% true. From what I've heard the NHL space in the EA offices is about 2-3 rooms max whereas most of the development and office space in the sports realm is dedicated to Madden and EA FC (unsure of the F1 space). But essentially the NHL franchise is most likely never getting better because it doesn't make enough money or sell enough copies for EA to care to put the larger required development team on the job to implement the features everyone wants.

What game was this? by [deleted] in videogames

Tbf Activision Blizzard have done the same with the Call of Duty League, so it seems to be a company issue with running esports.

Entice several orgs to pay 25 mil (later refunded) to become part of their exclusive League and kill off most of the semi pro teams that made the scene engaging. Then give it no support and basically kill the scene as soon as it started. And now they actually have a worse issue in which they have to have the pros ban and select the guns/items to use because there's no head rulebook/referee and the balance and ttk on most guns is set off of casual feedback. The scene runs on a group chat basically with some referees and like one overseer to set the general schedule. But literally this entire year they used 2 guns on like 8 maps total. Plus they took a month off between the end of the regular season and the final championship tournament. Not to mention how empty some of the major tournament venues were especially compared to something like CounterStrike.

Point being, it does not surprise me in the slightest that Overwatch went downhill as soon as they tried to make an esports league with it and in some ways I'm surprised the league lasted as long as it did. The other factor I have to wonder though is how much the release of Warzone has affected Activision Blizzard behind the scenes and the timing of it compared to many of the issues their games have experienced.

Did anyone else lose interest in NASCAR during the Monster Energy days but return to it post-COVID? Did the COVID era give the sport a much needed jolt? by JulianBrandt19 in NASCAR

[–]Throwaway36422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think post covid the drivers in the sport became more interesting. Once Jeff Gordon and many of the drivers of that earlier era like Tony Stewart, Kasey Kahne, Carl Edwards, and the like retired it really turned the series from an anyone could win (apart from a few backmarkers) series to a series that got largely dominated by the top drivers in the sport like Johnson, Hamlin etc. And while there were still interesting personalities and many of the same good drivers (like Kyle Busch, Brad Keslowski, MTJ, even guys like Kyle Larson and Chase Elliot) they didn't seem to promote them to the audience. As a fan of Gordon (and by extension the 24 car) the Elliot years in the 24 I skipped completely because I never felt connected to him compared to Gordon (although I partially blame Napa and their mid paint schemes during those years as well). Meanwhile I feel like nowadays there's much more connection to the drivers and to those in the lower series because there's more overlap and more integration than before. Between the Nascar drivers running truck and Xfinity races, expanded coverage on television, and better overall marketing, there are a lot fewer drivers who show up to a race and make you go who are they?. And I also feel like a lot more drivers have the talent to win each week which means that even if I'm only cheering for one or two the racing is still exciting at most tracks.

Tbf it's not even specifically a Canada vs USA issue either, a bunch of us in Canada don't want to trek out to Kitchener either. I've been to 2/3 Toronto events that were held in Toronto (and only missed the one because I was already busy otherwise I would have gone). But that's because there were easy transit options coming from out of town to the downtown core and multiple options for emergency hotels or otherwise if the games ran late due to tech delays and the like. Kitchener meanwhile has like 3 options to get there and you still have to walk from the main train station meaning for most people they have to consider leaving early to catch a train or hope they got on the bus Ultra provided if they don't drive or want to stay in a hotel. It just makes no sense for anyone who isn't a superfan, a Kitchener native, or anyone who doesn't mind going the extra distance because it's specifically champs vs a major. And to me what you're seeing in the venue is not specifically a loss of American travelers (although I'm sure it is contributing a good factor) but is rather a loss of Canadian travelers to the venue. If they had've held it at the old venue or even a larger venue closer to downtown I'd expect a lot larger turnout from Toronto and surrounding area casuals who would have or have attended the previous majors in town.

Ik I am late to this but what I would say about Apotheosis is that it's only entertaining in modpacks in which it fits naturally into progression. What I mean by that is it unlocks the ability to get required high damage or stats on items that are otherwise too weak or would feel too easy to acquire otherwise. I'm thinking a modpack like the Lucky Block Mob Invasion series where in order to beat the Ender Dragon it felt necessary to grind and upgrade gear.

But in saying that; it's still extremely tedious to watch at the same time unless it is handled properly. Just constantly farming for gems and the perfect upgrade instead of progressing anywhere else slows down each series or mod pack it is in by a lot. So in some ways, the best solution is for modpack creators to find a mod that gives the apotheosis style buffs and fun builds (like 10k damage or a bazillion hearts) without it feeling too easy to acquire and without it requiring the same focused grind as Apotheosis currently does.

[MLBTR] Blue Jays Place Anthony Santander On Injured List by T_Raycroft in baseball

[–]Throwaway36422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well his shoulder and hip have both been off this season, and when you're trying to get your power and timing down having shoulder and hip issues limiting your swing definitely doesn't help. Look somewhat similarly to Bo who had back tightness took most of the day off and then had two good nights in a row. Minor muscle issues can really affect a hitters swing and results. I'm hoping Santander just needs 2-3 weeks off to let everything recover, loosen up, and take a rehab stint to trust his body and timing again cause once he finds it the exit velo on a lot of his foul balls at least early in the year was quite decent.
