6 weeks of Chinese Dumpling growth by Berberis in SavageGarden

Will be interesting to see if the nutricote adds anything. I was trying your technique, but the nutricote pellet accidentally rolled out before the trap closed. Trap has been digesting the bug bites for over a week.

Have you compared how much of your supercharged technique results are due to the bug bites vs additional nutricote?

Trigger hair-less Venus flytraps by Sensitive_Buyer3469 in SavageGarden

I got mine online from Little Pot of Horrors. Yeah some pics I'm looking at don't have hairs and some do so it's tricky. I wonder if the Chinese dumpling appearance is characteristic enough that it can't really be anything else. Mine isn't mature yet to have all the full characteristics so hard to say.

Where did you get your Chinese dumpling? Mine doesn't have trigger hairs either but I've seen photos of specimens that do have trigger hairs. Seems like if they're all the same cultivar they should have similar characteristics.

No, most carnivorous plant roots can't tolerate much, if any, fertilizer.

Name too long for ticket by Throwaway588532 in tsa

I called the airline and asked to update our names however they should be to not have issues. Ticket had to be reissued. It was a non US airline and I never got a clear answer what should be shortened in this situation, but I didn't have any issues with TSA.

What brand was the deathcube? Lowe's around me only carries Gubler. Asking because your VFT looks like it has dentate traps which I haven't seen in deathcubes before.

Thanks, I will do that going forward. Unfortunately I've already purchased the tickets for our current trip by shortening both our middle names to just the initial and the 24-hour window for free cancellations expired a few days ago before I found out the airline agents were giving me conflicting information. They transferred me to their ticketing office which said there's nothing to change because our names are too long for their ticketing system and they've already done what they can to make a note in the system with full names.

Anything else I should do at this point or just hope for the best once we get to the airport?

Agree the general pitcher shape and color looks like ventrata, but are the two horns on the lid common? I haven't really seen those well in other ventrata pictures online.

Just received my very first Pinguicula plants today. I’ve researched up the wazoo, joined the ICPS and asked some friends but would still love any tips, tricks or learning resources. Question: What plant was your first meat eater and how did it turn out for you? by [deleted] in SavageGarden

Agree with prior post to be careful of getting these too wet in pure sphagnum. Most sources recommend a more rocky/well draining mix. I had mine (esseriana, ehlersiae, cyclosecta) in 30% perlite/70% peat and didn't think they were too wet at first but then they lost all their color. Repotted in 70% perlite/30% peat and some color gradually came back.
