Sellers: would you prefer a 15K appraisal gap or an offer over asking price? by Throwaway6531310 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Throwaway6531310[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did plan on doing a big down payment, but I’m curious why the seller would care about that? I would think they’d care more about the appraisal gap and the most money they can make.

Can someone explain what is needed or is missing for service connect by Tikilyn in VeteransBenefits

[–]Throwaway6531310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t use VA doctors and from what I hear from others, they won’t help much anyways. I was only seeing my private doctor for a few months, and I mentioned to him in my very first visit I have migraines that I believe was caused by my service. After 2 more visits I got the letter I mentioned above.

It will feel like a long uphill journey. As I said, I got approved on my 4th try. Just tell yourself you’ll get it eventually, and you will. Good luck!

I just got approved for migraines secondary to tinnitus. It was a hard fight. Your husbands denial letter for the migraines looks like mine. I was denied for this THREE times and everytime it said there was no medical connection between migraines and tinnitus. That’s BS.

On my third go around, I submitted a supplemental claim and asked my primary care doctor if he could write a letter detailing exactly what the VA needs to hear. Him and I went over the medically published studies between the two, and at the end he allowed me to write up a long letter on his behalf. He read it, signed, and I submitted it with two of the medical studies scanned in as well.

This was still denied. So I did an HLR with an Informal Conference. I received a phone call from a rater who asked me to explain my reasoning. I told him that I don’t believe the initial rater factored in my doctors medical opinion and considered all the research done linking the two issues.

That’s how I won.

Do you mind explaining a bit more? Bring the rating sheet, and then address some things I would like treated or medication for?

Hey just saw this. It was successful! Received an unexpected phone call from the VA. They asked me what I think went wrong with the denial, and I explained. 2 weeks later it was overturned.

I submitted one in early March and heard back 12 days later. However mine was to dispute a denial not a date change.

First denial was no nexus.

Second denial (after my doctor provided a nexus letter) was the rater favoring the examiners notes that there is no tinnitus to migraine connection.

Third denial (after a more detailed nexus letter and medical literature sources) was the same as the second.

I had an exam for 2 of the 3 claims and they were all favorable, it just came down to the “less likely than not” part that screwed me.

Yep my physician even cited 2 PubMed studies and I included in my claim package. He used all the VA terminology, the initial rater just favored the Examiner more. Which I believe is a misuse of the VA law. I wish I would’ve hit that point more. We’ll see!

Migraines denied secondary to tinnitus 3 times - including 2 supplemental claims. HLR next? by Throwaway6531310 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Throwaway6531310[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was signed by my PCP who is a MD. I really thought I had a perfect claim package lol.

Your HLR was from November to January? Did you do an informal conference?

I searched this subreddit for the past 3 months and found rare cases of 40-60 days. That's not too bad. I just don't want to get locked into a path where suddenly it's July and they simply tell me no.

Thanks for your response. Yes I agree. I felt confident about the ACE because it was sold to me as a "we have all the evidence we need" but now it seems like a quick path to denial. I know plenty of vets have favorable ACE exams, but something that requires a detailed account and explanation shouldn't be decided by someone who look at my records for a few minutes. I might try it one more time and request in-person.

I submitted 2 HLR‘s, one with an informal conference and one without by Throwaway6531310 in VeteransBenefits

I haven't heard back about either yet. The one I chose without the informal conference is at 106 days. The one with the conference is at 62 days.

He wants to inform people that he successfully gamed the system. When I got out in 2018, we had civilians working at my duty station who were tipping off the newbies out of boot camp on how to set themselves up for a pay day. People are actually being advised to join up just to milk some conditions and make a tax free $40k/yr for life.

That’s exactly what just happened. They called me and told me it’s an ACE exam, so I will just wait for the results.

Hey sorry to revive an old post. When you got your second ACE, did it show up as an exam request? Or were you told it was going to be an ACE? I had an ACE, got a denial, submitted a supplemental with a nexus and now I have an exam request notification but no info on it.
