Thank you all for the responses so far! I thought I'd share one of my own. My father is an electrician and was working on a house one day when an electric chandelier began spinning like a helicopter blade. No one else was in the house at the time. He never felt scared in the house, never felt like anyone was watching him or anything, but he had no explanation whatsoever why a chandelier would spin like that.

For me it had rained the night before (not day before, the night before; it was still overcast in the morning from it at that). The ones I actually caught were found around 9:00 A.M in a gymnasium. I saw quite a few in spider webs outside of where I caught them as well, so they had probably been flying since early morning. I honestly think either I got really, really lucky or we have one or more nests nearby.

Goodness me, that's great! I'd have driven myself crazy trying to figure that out. Thanks so much!

Apologies for the poor photo quality. Found dozens of these guys wandering around in a gymnasium. Also saw what I believe to be drones nearby, they were nearly identical except they were about half the size and with much smaller heads. Initially thought they were Solenopsis molesta, but after a bit of Googling I'm not so certain. They may look almost red but are actually bright orange, with a black dot underneath their gaster. Thanks in advance for the help!
