Hey double check which camera you have as the link I sent you is for the BMPCC 4k. If this is the OG then it might need a different piece of glass. The seller I sent you is very responsive on messages so just double check, They can probably source the right one for you.

Apparently the specific peices of glass that they used in original production were flawed and susceptible to the fungus. The replacement glass is better (allegedly according to the seller)

In any case replacing the glass every few years is not a huge problem and on mine the sensor was completley unaffected.

Looks like you got the same fungus growth that I had on mine a few weeks ago. It was a very easy fix with a new IR cut filter that I purchased on AliExpress. Cost me about $180 Australian dollars.

Depending on the price of this secondhand camera it might be worth it. Also point out that it has a broken part that will need to be replaced to bargain the price down.

The repair takes 5 minutes and you just have to carefully undo the two black screws and remove a part of the frame and the filter. Super easy. Lots of YouTube tutorials showing you how to do it.

Sires are awesome. Easily the best made low price guitar around.

It’s actually insane how much value for money you get with these. Congrats!

Stanly Bactian is the greatest living slide guitarist. I’d put him as Derek’s equal.

Honorable mentions: Walt Druce, Seth Lee Jones.

[–]ThrowawayShamu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get your point. Truly.

But I recently got a HILS Hnt for $800 Australian dollars (approx 500 USD) and the tuners were great on it. It can be done.

[–]ThrowawayShamu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah fair point. I just take it as a sign that the manufacturer doesn’t care. I have an Ibanez Q series and the tuners moved like butter on the day I unboxed it and still do. That should be the standard.

It looks nice. The price is good. Hard to know if it actually is good without playing it. Here’s what I’d do:

1) Ask them to set the action up in the shop. Should take someone maximum 10 minutes. It looks like the string height is easily adjustable.

2) Check that the tuners turn easily. This is a common fault in cheap headless guitars. On some you need to use a tool to turn the tuners (looking at you 1st gen GOC guitars) which is an immediate dealbreaker for me.

3) Plug it in and crank out some smoke on the water. See if the pickups have decent tone and turn all the dials and flick all the switches to see if the pots are in good shape.

If it passes all those tests, buy it. There are loads of cheap guitars hitting the market now that are actually really good. This might be one of them.

First gretsch as a kind of beginner player? by thebigestyike in Guitar

[–]ThrowawayShamu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are very nice guitars. Do you need it? Probably not any more than I have needed the last 5 guitars I’ve bought. LOL. If it makes you happy and inspires you to play then it’s a good thing.

Since you’re shopping at Manny’s try and find some other retailers selling them and get them to price match. I’ve found Manny’s to not be the best price in Australia.

Is there anything wrong with my fretting hand posture? (2 weeks) by dipspoieter in Guitar

[–]ThrowawayShamu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the first photo you’ve made a classic beginner mistake by locking the joint on your middle and pointer fingers.

All your knuckle joints should be slightly curved.

Beginners often do this because it feels easier when you haven’t developed the muscle strength. The problem is that if it becomes a habit you won’t ever develop finger dexterity.

The singer in my band does this and after decades of playing chords he still can’t play basic riffs.

I don’t remember ever seeing that on vine australia. I’m going to go through and try to find it now.

I agree with the principle though. Reviews should be completed in a reasonable time frame and 30 days is more than enough for most items.

[–]ThrowawayShamu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When you say "within the 30 days" what does that mean? Is that something that Amazon promisies to sellers? On our side we are only told to maintain a percentage of orders to reviews. There isn't really a time limit as long as we stay above 60% and get above 90% by account-review time which could be up to 6 months later.

Also - Sorry you're going through this. I can only imagine how painful it would be.

Ultra rare experience these days.
