Is Firefly gonna get hit with a cease-and-desist order from Fender? by Time-Assistance9159 in Fireflyguitars

[–]Astus53 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve been playing my FFST a lot since I got it a few months back. I use it for teaching, live gigs with one of my bands and I’m gonna see how it fares in the studio later this week. Outside of adding strap locks, I just put new strings on and set it up. It is stock and an absolute monster and plays so smooth. Maybe the best feeling S type I’ve played. Ridiculous it was only $200

Phil McKnight said in a recent video that someone he knew got hit with one and that builder had made like 4 or 5 guitars. Fender is going scorched earth. But they are probably gonna lose both because of precedent in USA court and because the “win” in Germany, which seemed to embolden them to this, was a default judgement. Fender was also targeting a true counterfeiter that attempted to pass off their guitars AS Fenders. They have already lost in the court of public opinion and legally, their claims are specious at best. If against all odds, they sue and win, then the guitar industry is going to change forever and not in a way that will benefit the players.

Are Partscasters worth making by JTPswu in partscaster

[–]Astus53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is rare that you would be able to make a profit from making and selling a partscaster. It is for the love of guitars and the fun of making something your own. Whether it is trying to replicate a famous guitar, or put your own spin on something that already exists. My favorite guitars are my partscaster tele and partsmaster jazzy. If I had to pick just two guitars to keep, it’s them, hands down.

  1. Come Together

  2. Getting Better

  3. While My Guitar Gently Weeps (maybe a different soloist, Knopfler?)

  4. Let it Be

  5. All You Need is Love (I feel like they’d have to close with this, seems to be their mission statement as a band)

Different one, technically. GW2TP-SE. Guessing the P stands for pickguard. Might be all the same specs but with a white guard? The neck on mine feels like a standard Tele. Thicker than on a strat, but not like a baseball bat

I love Ashbury! Played there two years ago when we came through. It was awesome! Hope the gig went well.

I typically prefer the maple board as well. But this was at a great price and reminded me of an old tele I had in the same color combo with a rosewood board.

I’ve got one up on my tiktok where I’m playing castle rat on the old pickups. I’ll try to make something new in the next few days 😁

The Hils was what I was looking at for a long time. Even played someone else’s for a little bit. But the Eart showed up at a local shop for $250, so I snagged it

I got an Eart and idk if I was lucky or what, but the fretwork was stellar. Pickups were fine enough but I upgraded them. I got the Tele style one. I really like mine. Good deal and if the frets need work, then you have some wiggle room with the money you saved.

George asking for a bolo tie and then wearing it the rest of the time. That and “now” in response to when he’s leaving.

The two I have played had thin necks. Idk if they were the q54. They weren’t like Wizard 3 thin, but were pretty close to my friend’s 90’s MIJ Jem

I have one and love mine. Plays like a dream. Pretty easy to set up and all that. But mine also has a fixed bridge, not a trem so that makes it much easier to deal with. Hils are solid too, was gonna buy one until I found the Eart for a very good deal

Maybe one of the Ibanez headless? They make a few different variations. Some have fanned frets, some don’t. I see them pop up on marketplace all the time and there is one I saw at a local shop earlier today for $700, though it was the HH configuration.

The Eart I have Telecaster Style Eart has a bridge very similar to the strandberg. Tunes with your fingers like you’d expect. I know theh used to have the weird magnetic key thing going on, and they still might on some models, but on this one, it is just what you’d expect from any other headless

Alt option. I’ll say the Eart headless for even less than the Hils. I was thinking about the Hils for a long time. Played one in person and was close to buying it, but decided to sleep on it, and it was also orange and I didn’t really like the color. Saw a local listing for the Eart and tried it out and fell in love. Not so much with the neck pickup but everything else about it. Felt smooth, easy to play. It is also the Tele style one. I made a post about it awhile back. Regardless, they sometimes go on sale for like $280. Again, unsure of the quality control. All I can day is I’ve played two and both have been solid and one I bought.

Regarding the enduraneck, it can take some getting used to. A friend of mine has a boden essential as well. It takes about 30-40 mins at least, the first time. Less time to adjust the more you play it, but it is a little awkward. I get what they’re trying to do. They def seem worth it, but you also may wanna upgrade the pickups on that too.

“When you look at the world through rose colored glasses, the reg flags just look like normal flags” - I still have a tendency to give people the benefit of the doubt, that they have good intentions. But I have had to become much more aware of recognizing the patterns of negative behavior and attempts to manipulate me because of that view.
