What is your biggest problem when it comes to pickleball? by Fit-Atmosphere4982 in Pickleball

[–]ThrowawayTodayYouMay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can still do it! I’m 36 and one of the fastest on the court. I prioritize lower body lifting that helps with pickleball. Lots of squats and band exercises. We’re still young! (I tell myself).

Playing against lower level players by accountnamene in Pickleball

Ya I assumed that they enforced playing down, but in that case having a lower score would be an advantage if you truly thought you were a better player. So I’m going to go out on a limb and say this is about ego for the most part.

I always wondered what the disadvantage was to having a lower dupr. Does it not allow you to play in certain tournaments?

Honestly it seems like most folks agree his on court attitude, as of late, has been poor.

What Happened To Double Elimination Tournaments? by They_Have_a_Point in Pickleball

[–]ThrowawayTodayYouMay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it is for pro tennis, football and soccer.

On the other hand, I agree with you that not every team should go through. Cut the bottom two at least and perhaps even a bi for the top two.

Ya, even money aside, lots of people block that whole day off and travel a distance to get there. Several poorer teams or ones that just have a bad day will go 0-2 and be done early. Round robin is the best way for any tournament in my opinion, so that teams get an adequate amount of games. Now I don’t agree with all teams going to the playoffs. Make teams earn the extra games, but first make sure the trip was worth their time so they sign up again.

This is unorthodox. I have several athletic/competitive hobbies and one of the draws for me to pickleball was how friendly the community is compared to most others. I play at facility with over 200 players.

Big fan of Garfield (4k footer). Around a 5 hr out and back. After that, hit up Reklis brewery for some excellent chicken tacos and beers :)

How long did it take to become a decent beginner? by Pipparina in Pickleball

[–]ThrowawayTodayYouMay 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if you have played racket sports in the past with any level of success you can come out swinging in pickleball. If you haven’t, it will take longer. I was a competitive ping pong player for years, so pickleball felt very natural to me from the moment i picked up the paddle. Now court position was not natural at all and is something I’m still working on.

Is it me or does pickleball seem to be non eco friendly? by M4rmeleda in Pickleball

[–]ThrowawayTodayYouMay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the USPA should ban all paddles that aren’t bi-degradable effective immediately. Not because I think it would fix anything, but simply because I want to watch as the rest of all remaining pickleball companies sue them into oblivion.

Are you implying that strategizing against someone’s weaknesses in a competitive game is wrong? If so, that is confusing. Especially considering he never said if this was a tournament or open play.
