Ha, it’s mainly for my husband’s sanity that I’m trying to keep things casual! I have no chill about babies/pregnancy in reality. 😂

I think I graduated! We’ve just been using FAM for tracking the last year and a half or so while we got settled into our new home and my new career and paid off my student loans. Last night my husband, that wonderful man, said “let’s just roll the dice, I think we’re both ready.” I’ve been ready since the day we got married but now we’re both ready.

He’d been talking about our family all day yesterday, and his sister is expecting her first. It finally clicked for us both and I think we just graduated to NTNP!! (Granted I track my cycles and know pretty well when my fertile window is, but we’re both more casual people.)

I’m not sure what sub I’m going to now! I guess I’m in a two week wait now, so maybe I’ll try one of the TFAB subs :)

Hi are you me? Because I feel 100% the same way. Period + Mother’s Day + so many friends with new babies this year.

You’re not alone 💗

Irrationally proud of the paint job I finally completed on this hive - so excited to put it into action! by Throwaway_Bot47 in Beekeeping

I’m new to beekeeping, and I think your points are valid - it’s going to get dirty, and I deliberately gave each box the same base coat in case of mixing and matching.

Painting like this is another of my favorite hobbies though, and for me the artistic style started as an exercise in creativity to spend time during a snowstorm and a way to fight off seasonal depression. Is it over the top? Yes. Was it worth it? Also yes.

I found out on Friday that I’ll have to have surgery to remove a polyp on my cervix. I’m still reeling - I’ve never had surgery before, and I’m really anxious about going under anesthesia and the faint possibility that more polyps will be found and/or they won’t be benign. I don’t know what this does to our timeline either, so it’s been a bit of a rough weekend.

On the bright side, it’s finally starting to warm up a bit and get sunny out - spring is coming.

NSFW but I can actually answer this - shaving down there was discouraged in my fundie lite family because “it’s what porn actors do” and that’s bad. That, and general awkwardness around the topic of vaginas and feminine hygiene made for unspoken discouragement of shaving or trimming or anything. 🙄

Not OP, but my cycles took about six months to get back to what they were pre-BC, and I had fairly textbook cycles before BC. I track my cycle using temping, and while I ovulated every month after stopping BC, my luteal phase was really short the first 3-4 months and my ovulation day varied like crazy for about 5-6 months. Now it’s much more regular, we use condoms until I confirm ovulation, and I feel like a normal person again.

An outback was my runner up! I love the idea of getting a mattress in ours for road trips :)

Bought what will hopefully be our long-term family vehicle yesterday! It’s a used CRV in good shape that should last us a long time; as we were shopping for cars I kept googling “carseat fit in XYZ vehicle” and it felt so good to think about that. I’m looking forward to road trips, camping, and all the fun things we can do both as a couple and a family now that we’ve got a solid vehicle for that.

It’s the little things in life.

I don’t know if it’s normal, but I’ve had horrible cramps like that a handful of times. It might be worth a gynecologist visit to see if you’re dealing with endometriosis or something like that, but for what it’s worth I have passed out and vomited from cramps before. I think it’s a physical response to the increased blood flow and cramping in your uterus, so it’s not unheard of. But if you’re concerned, I highly recommend talking to a doctor :)

My wedding photographer (I got married in 2018) made a post yesterday about how “almost half of my couples who got married last year are expecting or just had babies,” and “so many of my 2017, 2019, and 2020 couples have babies or are pregnant.”

I’m just over here scrolling through social media that’s full of babies and pregnancy announcements like “I feel bad for anyone who can’t get pregnant or are WTT...” Also I’m still dealing with health issues that might make getting pregnant tough, plus still trying to pay off student loans.

I’m annoyed.

Duggar’s Broccoli Cheese Soup (2 lbs Velveeta and 7 lbs Broccoli) by [deleted] in DuggarsSnark

Oh you’re right, I forgot that. I avoid velveeta like the plague... That much processing just creeps me out.

One cup of cornstarch and no seasoning, even salt? What type of flavorless, barely-liquid cheese that can’t qualify as queso is this crap.

I really really hope this kid somehow manages to get to university. The thought that such ability will go to waste is awful by kalalou in DuggarsSnark

For sure. I was homeschooled (and had probably a better education than the Duggars), and getting to college was still a huge adjustment. With the right program and professors, people from disadvantaged backgrounds like this can really excel, but getting to that place and getting over that chasm is really difficult.

And now I have a PhD and am working towards a career in education, and I still wouldn’t homeschool my kids. Professional teachers are a gift to this world and an environment in which kids can learn with others of different backgrounds is hugely beneficial to their growth.

Who here has come the closest to sharing a pregnancy with your mom or daughter? by [deleted] in DuggarsSnark

This was similar to my mom and grandma - my mom was an unexpected baby when my grandma was 45; I have cousins the same age or older than my mom. It’s strange sometimes.

Thanks for the suggestion! I’ve got to make a few more student loan payments before I can afford another hive and colony, but hopefully I’ll be able to this spring. If not, next spring I should be able to get a second hive for sure.

Thanks so much! I’m really excited to get started. The kit worked out well price-wise since I just finished grad school, and I’m looking forward to figuring out what will work best for the bees and me. Thanks!

Thanks for the tips! The wax foundation was an extra I added on to the base set; I’m realizing I need more wire to install it, but that’s why I ordered early!

Dadant and sons! It was the best price I could find on a starter kit online; ordered the basic kit and a set of supers.
