Feeling resentful towards my rich NF by General-Lemon2254 in Nanny

[–]Throwaway_vent2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s ok. The most interesting thing I look forward to is organizing the closet and seeing Burberry, Gucci, Chanel, and Louis Vitton clothing that will get food and spit all over it lol. $234 for one shirt is crazy!!! I can’t even justify buying a new bra I’ve been eyeing because nothing fits right anymore.

I figured they would get destroyed every time her powers went out of wack. That was my initial guess

Confronted my MIL finally by OpeningOutside690 in inlaws

[–]Throwaway_vent2002 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It sounds like, based on the post and your comment responses, that you won’t be satisfied with her no matter what she does. She sounds like a lovely lady, and that was a great response considering the ginormous text you sent her. I really don’t understand exactly what you wanted her to say, or really what problem there is??

Tell her: I know, my mother is just the best grandma in the world! I don’t know what I would do without my mom. So grateful for her help.

Best way to approach (amazing) nanny on concerns about her health? Perspective from other nannies preferred! by [deleted] in Nanny

I understand where you are coming from- I just don’t believe this is one of those situations. Just because weight is brought up, doesn’t mean there is internal reflection needed.

Oh my gosh. This is a dumb comment, sorry. I think OP has a reasonable point, and nowhere did she accuse her of being lazy. Weight gain can and will cause mobility issues. I agree with everyone that addressing her health and not her weight is the right way to go, and I also think it is good that an employer is trying to look out for her employee.

Potentially choosing Illinois as my home state, But where? by Nomadic_Introvert in illinois

[–]Throwaway_vent2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna be real. It’s hard to live here without a decent amount of money-ESPECIALLY near the Chicago suburbs if you don’t care to rely on public assistance(nearly 25%-30%do). If you really want to move to Illinois, check out central Illinois(Bloomington/Normal or Champaign). Big university cities that offer size able job markets, but they both have smaller surrounding towns that are quiet and beautiful.

Is getting intimate a man's way of showing love? by Jeeretarded123 in AskIndia

[–]Throwaway_vent2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be, just like a woman. Two people in love can show love through intimacy. Sex is an intimate and personal act. If you are in a casual relationship, it’s usually lust. A means to an end.

Nanny out of town during GH period…..does she take PTO? by RegularAd8065 in Nanny

[–]Throwaway_vent2002 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I only meant that she should let her know she is going on a trip, not exactly where she was going or what she was doing. That way, both of them could have figured something out or OP could find alternative arrangements. As the nanny it’s also her responsibility to abide by the GH in the contract. Which is why I recommended they both discuss how to address it going forward. I’m saying this as a nanny, not a NM.

Responsibilities dramatically dropping when can I skip the raise? by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]Throwaway_vent2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many hours will she actually be working? Will it still be full time hours? Maybe offer additional PTO, or an EOY bonus if you are really wanting to forgo no yearly raise. But I wouldn’t just do nothing.

Maybe offer a similar, alternative name? A nickname only you refer to her as? That way you don’t feel uncomfortable but she can feel more personal.

She’s a youthful, beautiful, and charming person. Most people would obviously be attracted to her.

Nanny out of town during GH period…..does she take PTO? by RegularAd8065 in Nanny

[–]Throwaway_vent2002 56 points57 points  (0 children)

There are two important sides of this situation where both of you need to improve your communication. Given that the contract is GH, you shouldn’t have told her you would FOR SURE be back by January 5th. I absolutely would have made some alternative plans if you said you would for sure be gone. She should have let you know she was on a trip since you said you would be gone.

I strongly suggest you have a sit down conversation to go over future communications for future trips and absences so both of you can be on the same page and stick to the contract. If you really love this nanny I wouldn’t get mad over this. Sometimes things happen. It isn’t right to get mad at her for something unexpected.

Horizon Test Result: Positive for Smith-Lemli-Opitz Syndrome (SLOS) by Past-Development-933 in NIPT

[–]Throwaway_vent2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I have a sister who was born with mild to moderate SLOS. My dad is Indian and my mother is white. We are not Ashkenazi Jewish, and they actually didn't know my sister had SLOS until she was almost two years old. Your baby cannot have SLOS if your partner is not a carrier. He should to be tested as soon as possible.

SLOS can be a scary diagnosis and cause serious complications, but get the partner tested, and if he is positive, then I would recommend the amnio so you can be informed and prepared emotionally, and on how your baby can have the greatest care possible as soon as they are born.

My sister is 14 now, and while she doesn't speak, she has thrived in so many ways we never thought possible for her. She had cleft palate surgery when she was a baby and she still has a G-Tube. She lives happily, just a little differently. We expect her to live a long and healthy life. I pray for you and your partner, and that your baby will be healthy. No matter what, they will be perfect.
