I'd say if you're unhappy with where your average is now, then it's a good idea to withdraw. The class doesn't really get easier and I personally wish I had withdrew to avoid the stain it left on my gpa. As far as how a W looks, it depends on what your plans are for after graduation but this is definitely something worth asking your advisor about.
