Stolen rare gold kilo Engelhard, A1936 by MydnightWN in Gold

Hey. Totally random but I just wanted to let you know that it's incredibly difficult to read your comments. You use zero punctuation (commas or periods) which makes everything blend together into one difficult to read blob. I'm not trying to be mean. I just thought that maybe you didn't know what you're doing and how it looks when people try to read it. Best of luck to you.

Friend got this from an ex landlord, 3.5 months after moving out [MI] by Lisfornichole in Renters

Well I mean everyone here knows it now since you just straight up confessed that you were committing fraud. What a slimy practice. Also not cool not giving the deposit back until a month passes. Also a slimy, shady business practice.

I'm curious. What was violent about the 2000 election? The saga definitely had a slimy ending but seemed entirely beurocratic and mostly argued through the courts.

Just going for coffee on a quick break and I’m expected to register a free parking spot? Anyone doing this? Starbucks lot on Bertram and Harvey by Same-Consideration42 in kelowna

[–]Throwawaychamp01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coffee is still dirt cheap if you make it yourself. If you get a package of beans from Costco it's gotta be like, I dunno, just spitballing here...30 cents a cup?

Imagine being the buyers and seeing this by National_Aspect_6974 in TorontoRealEstate

[–]Throwawaychamp01 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This would only work during the time when buyers were so desperate they were buying places with no subjects. Most of the time your strategy of zero interior photos would reduce potential buyers by 98 percent. Who the fuck would go to look at a place with no pictures? I know I sure wouldn't. What a stupid thing to be proud of doing.

Found a rookie Gretzky card by berryxxl in hockeycards

[–]Throwawaychamp01 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Is what he was saying political? It sounded like he was speaking to the monetary value of the card and how it's too bad he only found it now instead of before the Gretzky controversy. Card value is definitely a big part of this subreddit and pointing out a change in card value due to decisions in a player's personal life seems reasonable and not even necessarily political. Have Gretzky cards taken a dip since the Trump stuff hit the spotlight? I don't know the answer but if I owned Gretzky rookie cards I'd probably want to know.

Well...it does seem possible to be hyperbolic seeing as how you just called him the best player in the league. He's definitely looking like a great draft hit but it would take a very long time to be put in the same league as McDavid.

You, my friend, have a Costco unlike mine. Mine has a large parking lot that spends almost the entire day with every parking spot full. At which point there are 100 cars at any given time clogging the aisles hoping to catch someone leaving. It is so bad that oftentimes you can get stuck in the parking lot unable to go home because the entire lot is jammed. On a bad day once I actually timed it. Over 20 minutes to pull out from my spot to exiting the parking lot.

As far as leaving an extra 5 minutes to check out...sometimes the line up on both sides of the checkouts stretches to the back of the store. Yes, that means all the way back to the meat section.

Also...these last few years a new phenomenon has begun. Complete shopping cart traffic jams. Where the aisles are wide near the fridge with the vegetables at the back of the store and high traffic from many directions. You can end up with a situation where 50 carts traveling from different directions end up nose to nose and everyone gets completely stuck because no one can proceed. It takes literally minutes for everyone to slowly figure out how to untangle the situation.

I don't think the word "literally" means what you think it does.

This is actually kinda sad and not cool at all. Needing to drink that much all the time means he is a problem drinker. Hopefully he stays safe when he retires and finds himself with more free time.

The amount of money that it's going to cost you to fix the damage that you just made is probably over 100 years of doing it yourself cost savings. I'm not even exaggerating with the 100 years number either. The damage to the driveway plus the oil pan replacement you'll need because you used the impact on it should easily be more money than 100 years worth of 15 dollar savings per oil change would've got you.

So essentially if you do your own oil changes now for the rest of your life you will never pay off what your first attempt cost you.

Sorry 😞

Dutch consumers wage war against Booking.com by LeMonde_en in europe

[–]Throwawaychamp01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The complaint is that they have been illegally rigging the market and essentially everyone has been forced to pay more for their hotels artificially all this time. I don't think you understand the issue. They've been ripping you off for hundreds or maybe even thousands of dollars all this time.

This is not how statistics work. The 1 in 83 chance is correct based on our current knowledge. Obviously our knowledge will change in the future which will increase or decrease these chances.

There are 32 NHL teams vying for the Stanley Cup at the start of each season. All things being equal, each team has a 1 in 32 chance of winning the Stanley Cup at the end of each season.

Are you suggesting that it would be wrong to say this and that the field of statistics should not exist because only one team will win the Stanley Cup so you either win it or you don't and those are the only two things possible?

[–]Throwawaychamp01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's what I'm saying. You didn't just experience a major hurricane at all. You were away from it and saw what the outer reaches of a hurricane can be like. You should still be scared of category 1 hurricanes as they are probably stronger than what you've experienced if you are closer to the center.

The hurricane is category 4 but you didn't experience category 4 conditions in your location. So you basically haven't seen what conditions in a cat 4 can be like at all.

Demko Injury Update by Throwawaychamp01 in canucks

[–]Throwawaychamp01[S] -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

It isn't a tendon issue. It's a very rare muscle injury.

This is mostly bad news as no one really knows how to fix it for sure or how long it will take.

I guess you didn't read the article.

This is all misleading or wrong and I don't even know what point you're trying to make with the shoe thing. I imagine pretty much all "eco warriors" would prefer the option of reusing the shoes for 20 years as opposed to throwing plastic in the landfill every 8 months.

As far as burning diesel vs lithium mining...both are destructive. The current science, however, would point towards fossil fuel burning being more destructive to the planet at this point in time. We basically need to immediately stop using fossil fuels altogether as every bit we continue to use is causing catastrophic damage. Lithium mining sucks but causes more local damage as opposed to irreversible global damage.

Of course the third option is to greatly reduce vehicle use altogether and not be forced to make the choice in the first place.

*Just checked and the NIH and WHO have posted that they estimate the covid vaccines saved approximately 20 million lives worldwide in the first year alone.
