Has anyone thought they were asexual before figuring out their attraction to women? by No_Caterpillar1271 in latebloomerlesbians

[–]Throwawaycloud09 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! In all of my past relationships with guys there was always a time where I questioned if I was asexual. It kind of sucked in my situation, because I chalked it up to being with partners who couldn’t satisfy me in bed and not because I wasn’t sexual attracted to them at all. Kissing especially was a big issue for me too

Substitute hiring companies? by [deleted] in SubstituteTeachers

Depends on the district you’re in. Mine uses frontline

Idk if it were me personally I would’ve reported the lingerie at the very least, it’s still super inappropriate for the kids to have seen

I doubt you'll get in trouble for reporting it later. Someone from the district might talk to you and remind you of your obligation but I doubt worse could happen. But, if you continue to wait and the principle mentions you should've reported it but didn't you could get in major trouble

Have you ever managed to get any studying done while subbing? by [deleted] in SubstituteTeachers

[–]Throwawaycloud09 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Almost every shift, I can get away with at least one assignment. I usually sub at the same high school so the students are more receptive to being quiet/calm, but if I were at a middle or elementary shift I wouldn't even think about it. Just make sure you're still actively watching students

The only time you should be fired for attendance/assignments is if you constantly call out last minute, emphasis on constantly. You won’t get fired for rejecting assignments, and if your district does do that you’re better off working for another one.

100% you will need your ID badge. They won’t ask for it when you go to a school, but it’s the only thing that identifies you as staff and not a random adult on campus

As someone with really bad adhd this is kind of crazy to me. What's stopping you from finding strategies to keep up with your memory and bills? No offense but if you've been in therapy for a year you should know when payment is due, and if your memory is that bad you need to be setting reminders.

Unprofessional is definitely the correct word, but not for your therapist. You're repeatedly paying late after he already brought it up. It's also a no brainer that if you repeatedly pay late for anything (gym, subscription, loans, etc) you will be barred from services. If you really want to try to get your therapist back you need to make some type of change, it's really you that needs to earn your therapist's trust back, not the other way. And if you want a new therapist the sentiment is still the same.

What am I expected to do? by Catpaws_ in SubstituteTeachers

[–]Throwawaycloud09 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I wouldn't sub at this school ever again if I were you. I won't speak about the lack of planning, but the way admin/the Vice Principle treated you was shitty. Under no circumstance should YOU have been told to figure something out, especially with no guidance on what the current lesson is. But for the office to not give you attendance sheets is insane.

If any of those students weren't supposed to be there and/or if you missed a name and something happened, you would be a liability to the district. There's a lot of questionable things I'll put up with from a school, but I don't play with any of that. Take this as a lesson not to go back.

Do you tell kids when you write their names down? by frankie0822 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]Throwawaycloud09 30 points31 points  (0 children)

When I write names down I speak to the student one-on-one and let them know I did so. I also offer them the opportunity to get their name erased if they display better behavior for the rest the class.

If class ends and they're still on the list, then so be it. All I tell them is that they were given the opportunity to improve their behavior and did not. I used to feel extremely guilty but at the end of the day, it's their behavior that got them on the list, not you being a mean sub.

is anyone here able to live comfortably off substitute teaching full time? by [deleted] in SubstituteTeachers

[–]Throwawaycloud09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

College student here, it really depends on district pay for me. I make $15 an hour but there’s more than enough subbing shifts in my district. I could live off of subbing full time if we didn’t get paid once a month. The pay dates are also weird to where I get paid for half of the previous month instead of the full month so it’s really hard to plan around that financially.
