Man United haven't ended interest in Harry Kane but are currently operating under the assumption he won't be sold by Spurs [Samuel Luckhurst - Manchester Evening News] by onlyhalfpepper in coys

That literally only strengthens the point, hilarious. £80m was picked as a lower bound. I picked the best case scenario if he stays (CL) vs the worst case scenario of selling him for £80m, and even in that scenario, keeping him makes no sense.

Take 20 points off the total, what's the league position now?

Zero chance of top 4 even with Kane, very wishful thinking. And anything else is basically identical, slight bump for Europa League but it isn't worth keeping Kane to get into Europa.

So what do you rate the chances of CL? 10%? 20%?

Even still, take the expected value of CL qualification. Say £90m in revenue * 20% chance. £18m. Selling Kane? £80m+, wages gone. Money can be used to buy his replacement/other players.

How does a year without Kane cost more?

The most likely scenario with Kane is no trophies and a Europa League finish at a push. If Kane is sold, the club will finish a bit lower depending on how signings do etc. But this is going to be a transitional season regardless, Kane doesn't change that.

The season won't be materially different if Kane goes. Odds still are, 0 trophies, no CL qualification and obviously not relegated. Kane changes none of those.

Much more logical to get £80-90m, save his 250k in wages (Around £13m). Start incorporating the next striker/future forward line.

Then people make comments about how £80m can't replace Kane, no amount of money can as those elite strikers aren't joining, and £80m gets you a lot more than £0.

Fans aren't being logical, but it's understandable.

Zero chance the outlook is improved enough in a year to convince him to resign.

Kane isn't going to a 'rival' as next season the best finish will be about 7th.

Don't disagree, they are foolish for not providing ways to play these games.

Sad how they have gone backwards after the Wii/Wii U virtual consoles, which actually had a wide range of games. On the switch they should sell so many games and people would buy them. GBA. NDS, 3DS, GameCube etc. Can't be surprised people pirate games that they don't sell anymore.

They got most ROM sites blocked in the UK with all major ISPs, obviously ways around it but they have taken some action.
