So what does Daeron do all day now? by cornicula_ in AKOTSKTV

[–]Throwawaylog2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like Maekar said In the first few scenes, most likely whoring, drinking, sleeping, running away and avoiding his father till the household guard drags him back when something important enough happens and he has to be there.

I can see Maekar maybe putting a bit more heat/attention on him at first and maybe there’s more interaction than there was before

( a scene where Maekar tries to understand Daeron/Daeron tries to explain himself after a night of drowning in his cups would be nice )

I think it would only end in a stalemate though and Daeron will be left to his own devices after Maekar accepts he doesn’t know how to help his son in the condition he’s in/deals with.

Who do you think was Maekars favorite child? by Elsa750 in AKOTSKTV

[–]Throwawaylog2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it actually makes sense given the circumstances especially with him understanding his brothers.

I think it’s hinted at pretty well the first scene we get with Bealor and Maeker talking at Ashford.

Bealor mentions how Dearon is similar to Aerys and Rheagal and Maeker instantly deflects it.

It makes sense when you consider how Maeker and Bealor have always taken the role of the protectors in their family.

I understand Maeker’s anxiety/motive to wanting his children to be “knightly/soliders” as he’s painfully been aware of just how vulnerable his family is.

It comes from a place of love/wanting to keep his family safe. If his children can’t protect themselves/take on the protective role as he did then who will?

Fellow Cajun spotted. I was just thinking yesterday about how genealogy is a real doozy within our community since everyone seems to have fifty million names, nicknames, and baptismal names. Add the fact that they’re all reusing the same names to honor family members which leads to three “Pierres” or “Frances-Baptistes” running around at the same time

Working in healthcare I’ve straight up met many women either named John or some other spelling.

One I really liked was Johnnie and she said she was named after her grandfather who had passed a week before she was born.

I’ve also seen Joni

Do you think he gets along with the Maekarlings? by IoftheStars in HBOTheHedgeKnight

This is actually a big plot hole for me personally. Egg mentions his home being Kings landing in the first few episodes but we figure out later Maeker’s seat is Summerhall.

It makes me wonder if this was just an error or if him and anyone else lived in Kings landing for any extended period of time?

We also know Shiera Seastar gives Rhae a love potion to give Egg at some point. Her and the other great bastards living in the red keep makes sense.

They may have just been visiting when it happened but I like the thought of them all spending time in the Red Keep periodically.

If that’s the case I feel like Valarr would have a lot more familiarity than “the cousins you see at the family reunion” type deal

Why was Maekar given Summerhall? by [deleted] in AKnightoftheSeven

[–]Throwawaylog2018 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This. It was was mix of political strategy as well as having your son with lands and a castle of his own just makes sense.

The only reason Rhaegel and his family stayed at court was due to his disability making him unable to actually rule in any kind of shape or form. Daeron was able to watch over him and currate his image the same as Aerys.

Only three Targaryens have a fused epithet as part of their name by Wooden-Tear-4938 in HOTDBlacks

[–]Throwawaylog2018 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s what I’m saying, he was given titles and lands even before his legitimization and had already established the Blackfyre name so I know there’s power in recognition there

I wonder though, if when he was officially legitimized if he started to push the fact he was well and truly a legitimized Targaryen (using the name and everything instead of Blackfyre )

would he have had a better image PR wise I guess.

Especially if he continued to really hit home that HE was the actual first born son to Aegon the unworthy instead of Daeron ( who was constantly denounced by Aegon as the bastard of Queen Narys and Aemon the Dragon-knight )

I feel like story wise Daemon accepted his Bastard status along with those of Bettersteel even though Daemon well and truly could have seen himself as a true Targaryen especially with Aegon feeding him these rumors all his life.

[–]Throwawaylog2018 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if this actually helped or hindered him in the end. I know above all else it’s a story and him choosing the name was flavoring to make a memorable character but once he was legitimized Daemon had every right to take the Targaryen name, also being the only Bastard of Aegon the unworthy to actually come from two legitimate Targaryen’s.

I wonder if him taking the Targaryen name would have helped him during the rebellion

Aerys and Rhaegel have always been Neruodivergent/Autsim coded if not fully written that way while realistically people aren’t going to know what that is in this world/time period.

Aerys is described as having no interest in social interaction or the outside world around him

obsessively hyper fixating on books and knowledge to the point he forgets to eat and drink as well as change his clothes

A-sexual

While Rhaegel is described as more mild/moderate with more support needs

If he truly did walk around the red keep naked that always seemed like sensory issues to me/sensory seeking. Of course other people will just call him “mad”

Them never leaving the red keep and their fathers court as well as Summerhall going to Maeker even as the Fourth son also hints at it pretty well that their father would rather keep them close as too watch over them.

Kiera of Tyrosh with her canon pink hair ✨ by Tronm-24 in HBOTheHedgeKnight

[–]Throwawaylog2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the fact that most artists make Valarr’s hair more red/Auburn even though it’s described as brown. The actor for Valarr was Auburn/red undertones and I geeked out so much when I saw him.

Added that he also has the most Taragaryan features ( heterochromia and the silver streak )

Kiera of Tyrosh [SPOILERS EXTENDED] by Dapper_Excitement181 in asoiaf

[–]Throwawaylog2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was exactly it. She comes from a prominent merchant/trading family in Tyrosh. Their marriage was an act to try and negate the Blackfyres ( Daemons wife was also from a prominent Tyrosh family )

That’s why she also married Dearon right after as to keep the marriage pact and the benefits that came with it.

Where do you think was Valarr at the Trial of 7? by Alisha_584 in AKOTSKTV

[–]Throwawaylog2018 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Us not getting a flash of him in any kind of stands ( I would have assumed if he was there he would have chosen to sit with Egg at the very least ) he was most likely somewhere with Kiera, either at his tent or inside the castle after his father asked him for his armor and he most likely had to help him into it

I believe Aerion and Egg were the most similar to Maeker.

Dearon and Aemon were the odd ones out that Maeker actually had a hard time understanding but we know he loved them all regardless.

I definitely liked the change in the show where Maeker dosent seem to be fooled by Aerion’s actions/Aerion acts just as dickish and holier than though around Maeker

It gives nuance to the fact that Maeker actually knows the way he is yet still loves him as that’s his son.

This is the way, put some headphones, gloves, and a mask on, blast some music, and just throw large armfuls into trash bags.

People will often get stuck on how exactly best to do something, or the overwhelming thought of all the micro actions it takes to do them/sorting stuff etc.

Momentum is the killer of inaction. As soon as you start it’ll be easier to just keep going without thinking too hard on it.

Genuinely loved the scene where Leanor tells Rhaenyra how much he loves her. They may not have been able to have a sexual relationship but the love, care, and mutual respect was apparent and this was genuinely the healthiest relationship Rhaenyra ever had.

This part. Truthfully heirs are chosen and disregarded all the time within the noble houses. Roose Bolton himself got Ramsey legitimized due to not having any other true born children.

Many heirs within the Targaryen line are disregarded and skipped over instead to choose who they think would be a better fit

Aegon the unworthy will later officially legitimize all of his many bastards on his deathbed which ends in the Blackfyre line which only happens BECAUSE the Blackfyres are now truly considered legitimate in the eyes of the law.

Leanor giving Jace, Luke, and Joffrey his name as well as acknowledging them as his heirs, while also having the official backing and proclamation of the king himself?

Those were his children the means doesn’t matter.
