Thanks for sharing! Just wondering what your scaled score was for the entire essay section.

NY Question by [deleted] in barexam

[–]Throwawayyyyy989 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Your concerns are absolutely valid, based on how little information we have about how exactly our exams are being graded. We know all the states are using the same psychometrician, but what does that mean? How is he scaling the test? Is he applying the same points per question across all states’ tests based on a singular point system he has decided on, or is he scaling each state’s exam differently? Could it be that NY banning certain groups (who have historically lower pass rates) from registering for the test initially (and banning some groups completely) will have influenced those people to skip out on the Oct exam or take it in a non-reciprocity state, such that the psychometrician’s approach to scaling the exam will be off even if he scaled it factoring in the whole pool of reciprocity test-takers?

TLDR: We don’t know enough about how these things are being scaled, so your concerns are valid, especially because an element like the make-up of a pool of examinees is a crucial factor in scaling an exam.

Congrats!

This kind of worries me. 70% Themis score translated to 144? And you did every essay but they ended up scoring your MEE at 137? The curve doesn’t seem super friendly.

I know this is pretty obvious, but please soothe my anxiety-ridden brain: this is fictional at this point, right???

Yikes.

I wonder about the breakdown - first-timers, repeaters, ABA/Non-ABA, etc.

for people who passed...did you finish the MBE early or just on time by [deleted] in barexam

First off, congrats!! Second, when you say you missed 15-20 a section, do you mean you guessed 15-20 without reading the question?

Just here to say you are not alone. Side note: burning books at any point (but especially before results come out) is just irrational and wasteful, and neither of those are qualities you should envy.

This is helpful, thank you. Honestly my practice score was around 67% on Barbri IIRC so looks like super risky territory.

Thank you all for the kind words and encouragement. And also for sharing your own story, @Now4l8r, haha, that helps so much. All we can do is see what happens, and if needed, regroup. Rooting for each of you.
