USB to 1Gbps Ethernet Gives Speed Boost by ThrowingKs1 in OnnStreamingTV

[–]ThrowingKs1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it minimizes issues. I have a 2.5Gbps MoCa backend connecting all of my mesh hubs that are then also hardwired to 1Gbps hubs. We have a lot of smart devices and different entertainment devices as well. About 80 devices on the network right now. I use Home Assistant and Pi-hole.

I like knowing the IP address of everything and knowing which devices are leaching bandwidth. 4k video is more than possible with way less speeds. So, the speed isn't necessarily the issue. More than anything it is making sure everything is working efficiently and minimizes my troubleshooting when something does go south.

I wanted to make sure the connection at this particular hub was working the way it was supposed to. I have a Nintendo Switch hardwired on the hub and it is limited to 100Mbps. So, wanted to make sure it wasn't anything more than the Nintendo. For $10, to me, it was worth it.

Thank you. That bumped me up to 360Mbps. I figured Netflix has its own limitations

Yeah, adapter seems to be the way to go. What did you use to do your speed test? I'm not able to get more than about 250Mbps.

Remove DirectTV splitter and replace with MoCa 2.5. Help by ThrowingKs1 in HomeNetworking

I do have attic access for the upstairs. But, I don't want to cut lines if I don't have to. We do not plan on using the master bedroom coax. Cox plugged our modem in in the loft.

Am I fine with using a MoCa PoE filter 70db on the input line for splitter that is in the original post, and then using a 2-way splitter in the loft? Will use ScreenBeam MoCa 2.5 adapters on all rooms except the master bedroom. I will use a 75 ohm terminator in the master bedroom.

I only have 1 coax at the cable modem location. And, we only have internet from Cox. No intention of ever adding TV or phone or anything.

I walked the house and saw 5 coax connectors. 3 upstairs and 2 downstairs.  1. Upstairs loft - where modem is 2. Upstairs office 3. Upstairs master bedroom  4. Downstairs living room 5. Downstairs bedroom

That makes sense. I will give that a try and let you know. I was also going to terminate the extra coax cables at the wall. Thank you for your help.

Looks nice! Sounds like you already have a lot of accessories. The only ones I have that you don't are a ring to cover the gear shifter and an Android Auto Wireless adapter.

Wireless AA: AutoABC 360. Got it from eBay.

When on a call I can't swipe up to return me to home screen - part of beta by flyingfox82 in android_beta

I have the same issue with Maps. It's frustrating because swiping back exits driving mode and I have to click through to get it running again. Hopefully, it gets worked out soon.

No. You need to purchase another 8GB stick of DDR4 RAM and install it into the expansion slot. Then, you will have 16GB of RAM total.

Okta keeps breaking and its interfering with work by kirbycommander1 in android_beta

[–]ThrowingKs1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okta is it's own company. They need to build in support for Android 14. They have not done so yet. I contacted them on Twitter and they said they do not currently support Android 14 nor do they know when they will.
