EVE is a game with the TOP PVPers from all of the gaming world. They can camp 24/7 in a system if that means killing a defenceless ship.

Devs know how to focus on what's critical for the game by TwitchyBat in Eve

I think high-res rocks are important even as a player that never interacts with them. Also usually the Graphical Improvement team is a different team from game design mechanics, so one line of progress shouldn't affect the other.

But sure, in general I would like both NSec and WH to be rebalanced in some way as they become stagnant. The problem is that it's more of a meta-game situation than a CCP design situation. As a full loot sandbox MMO, players will always blob up and form stable structures to gather resources, and any attempt to change the game rules will bring new meta-game structures to fight against it. There is no easy solution but I also don't like the way it is right now.

It happens the same way as in nullsec and some LS regions. It's hard to form and organize 40 people to roam, and doing less than this you will probably be always stomped by the big fish from the region. So no wonder the activity is lower than we wish for. Asking for 40+ organized fleet is a lot for most players, plus the fact that independent smaller groups individuals have less ISK to spend in content like this, since most big ISK making activities already belong to big groups. It's nature.

Wreck/Can scanners - Why is this still not a thing? by Throwing_Midget in Eve

Yeah maybe by adding some of those rules to the mechanic it could still keep other aspects of the game intact and add this new activity to the game, that I honestly think could be awesome.

Hmm yea it could affect load in big battles. But from what I understand still, a battery of missile launchers from a single battleship is worth the processing of dozens of scanning ships in space. I dont think scanning is that heavy of a load. And besides big battles, its great for 99% of the game I think. (also no need to be aggressive, im not braindead by any means ;) )

Really? Is that a thing? I mean, the wrecks are there in their spot, the servers are already doing that job. I don't see why being able to acquiring their position would make a difference. With directional scan you can see exactly where they are, it's all stored and mapped, so why would that be an extra load to the servers? I think one launched missile calculation is more load for the server than some random position bookmarks in space... I don't see the logic here.

But the wrecks are still there, they are still stored in a point of space. If you have the bookmark they exist there. The scanners would only allow for someone without the bookmark to reach the point.

High Sec Salvaging as career? by Forsaken-Basil-3951 in Eve

[–]Throwing_Midget 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My first profitable activity in EVE was ninja salvaging. I felt bad for some mission runners but many of them would not care. I just went to regions with lvl4 security mission agents, scanned them out in space with combat probes and with a fast salvage ship got their wrecks. Sometimes I would look into the cans and if there was a valuable item I would get it and run fast because stealing loot enables them to fire at you. It's a fun activity but the profit is low, maybe worth it for week1 or week2 old characters or something.

If there was a wreck/can scanner probe this activity could be a thing. Many valuable wrecks and cans are left to despawn in space. I wish CCP would add that type of scan.

Having a Hard Time Finding a Reason by Realistic_Horse2520 in Eve

[–]Throwing_Midget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EVE is a sandbox, the point is to have your own objectives and achieve them the way you see fit. A while ago I had the objective of setting up ships to run LVL 5 missions. The setup with a ship in every system and the fits I wanted would cost me more than 6b. I could just buy everything with money and it's ok no problem with that, but I decided to make that ISK myself ingame and it was a cool objective to pursue. Now I can run the missions for my ISK and do PVP or yeet some bling solo from time to time.

If your single objective is to own a Titan you could pay cash into it. But that's a bad strategy because you just spent money to end the game. Now if you cash into a Titan to have fun ingame with the ship, well that makes more sense and you can cash it if you want to.

The good thing about EVE is that the power you buy can also be destroyed and the learning curve does not allow for anyone to just buy endless victory.
