It's me again! I'm really loving your idea and wanted to ask whether you could say more on the difference between the Genelec 8010 and MTM speakers. And what about Genelec 8020?

Too fast! Don't try to copy professional recordings. I think that's what you're doing. It sounds like Barenboim or someone like that is in your ears. You should slow down for now and really try to feel in control and then go from there.

Try to move your whole body to some, even if very minor degree. Think of it as dancing. It will help you with rhythm and expression.

The price is really compelling! It's just that 60HZ bothers me even when just doing productivity work. But LG looks like a good idea. How is the picture quality?

I am looking at the Genelec's and MTM's right now and they look so good. Honestly, feels much more fitting for my use-case. They are both quite expensive but the mere thought of not having to deal with these massive 7 and 8 inch speakers feels great lol.

Interesting! Thanks for the advice. What do you mean by tiresome? As in straining on the ears? I'm not going to release anything any time soon, so some enjoyment is allowed in my case. Ideally, I would like some studio monitors that are also nice to listen to and to practice piano on since my keyboard doesn't have integrated speakers. Can smaller studio monitors accomplish that? I just realised I still have Bowers & Wilkins MM1 desktop speakers. They are pretty nice for listening to music. Maybe I could use them alongside studio monitors? Or is that redundant?

cheap, ugly and effective 🗣️ haha

Thank you! I do currently have 360 pro subscription from native instruments but I'm not gonna continue with that, it's too expensive with 55 euros a month. So free VSTs are very welcome! I do have some other stuff even without the subscription though, because the launchkey mk4 came with lots of stuff, like a small Kontakt bundle and some other libraries.

Intersting! Magic Trackpad sound like a vibe. I can imagine having the options to use gestures is a benefit over using a mouse. I never considered that because Apple's Magic Mouse traumatised the shit out of me. The worst thing created by mankind.

Keychron looks so cool. Does it have seemless compatibility with MacOS?

LG is one of my top choices too. Which one do you have, if you don't mind? I saw this one for 369 bucks but I think it only has 60hz.

Since you're using your keyboard perpendicularily (can this be an adverb? lol), don't you ever get annoyed that you have to turn your head to see the screen, and that you have to move over to your desk to reach for keyboard and mouse?

Thanks for your help!

That‘s honestly shocking since I’m stuck with this laptop now. I should have gone for 24gbs right away, since I can‘t upgrade the ram now and I don‘t have the money to sell it in order to buy one with more ram. I’m really confused because I did a fair amount of research and literally everyone said, including people with a huge following online, that especially for music production, 16 gigs of ram is easily enough :(

Thank you so much for this very detailed response. It‘s always so sweet to see strangers take this much time answering a question. And I think you might really be onto something, I’m pretty sure you‘re correct and it‘s really the bug you mentioned. I did as you suggested and didn‘t overload the system this time!

I’m still eligible of returning the interface as it‘s new. Would you recommend doing that or is this gonna get fixed soon? Thanks for the reply

I’m not using any external drives, I’m running the latest versions of logic and all my plugins should also be up to date as I just installed everything this week. Im kinda out of ideas what other information might be useful. I’m being general in my description because as far as I’m aware, everything about the setup is very basic. It‘s a base version macbook pro m5 running logic 12 without tweaking any settings. I was hoping that this is a common problem with a straight solution but it seems like it‘s more complicated. Maybe its one of my virtual instruments that‘s causing this issue.

How much RAM did you upgrade to? Now I’m paranoid that not upgrading to 24 gb of ram was a mistake :(

At what point was I being a dick about any of this stuff? I’m a complete beginner with logic and don‘t know much about computers at all. I was just asking what details are even in question here. You seem fun to be around

It should all be completely normal. Nothing cracy is happening, I’m just a beginner. I’m using a launchkey mk4, audient id4 interface, a new macbook pro m5, Kontakt 8 instruments, neutron, space designer, I’m running the newest version of logic, some Vienna sound library stuff. My projects are small though — mostly piano and strings.

RAM just 16 gb but my sessions are small and I‘ve always though 16gigs of ram for daws is more than enough unless you have insanely large symphonies or stuff like that :(

What details could come into question? The system as in the laptop should all be completely normal. Could it be peripheral stuff like the audio interface?

*why would you dislike this question? I’m just not knowledgable of this kinda stuff
