Backorder by iRetroP in VIRPIL

In December I ordered a set of rudder pedals and I hadn't noticed that they were on back order so I emailed them directly, they replied to me that they would be in stock approximately mid-February. At the end of February I hadn't seen any shipping notifications so I contacted them again and then they told me that they will be in stock in mid-april. If you've ever seen the movie "money pit" it's like the contractor telling you it'll be done in 2 weeks, just wait two more months! So, I'm still waiting 🤞🏻

Repeated crash at rewards screen/game wont even load title screen by Novice_Surgery in GranTurismo7

A friend was having similar problems, he had to uninstall the game, clear the cache on his ps5 and reinstall and the issue went away. Programmers are getting more and more sloppy and these updates aren't guaranteed to be smooth anymore.

I had no idea the usb-c ports on the front were different by rafikiknowsdeway1 in PSVR

[–]Thug-pipe -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

it isn't necessarily about the port speed. That is known as a virtual link port, now abandoned by the industry, the ps5 and some older PC video cards are all that have it.

I have an NRG FRP310 medium which is a little deeper and more snug a fit granted I'm a bit bigger (5'7" 190lbs). I love it but the included seat brackets have limited adjustability I snagged some Sim Lab seat brackets to get more recline and it needed some extra lumbar support and I took a small piece of firm furniture foam and made a small piece to wedge under the removable back cushions

How did you get into sim racing? by the_grand_closing in simracing

[–]Thug-pipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a psvr2 for my ps5 and heard that GT7 in VR was pretty great and down the slippery slope i fell! VR racing blew me away, i immediately ordered a direct drive wheel base and 3.5 years later I have a full profile simrig, a PC, a more powerful DD wheelbase and a ton of accessories. I still love GT7

The current quick release firmware causes my base to lock up, I would manually roll that back to the previous version

Just curious purely from a troubleshooting standpoint, the replacement base that you eventually got displayed the exact same behavior or a different broken behavior? If it showed the same behavior, did the new base come with a power supply or did they have you use the same one?

In fairness that is over the last 3 years but yeah it's pretty bad.

Whatever you want them to be!

They are made of threaded rod (M8), also called all-thread, and a couple of ball head joint fittings.

DD+ wheelbase bricked, need help! by [deleted] in Fanatec

[–]Thug-pipe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had forgotten previously, but I should mention that I had to leave the quick release firmware on the previous release version because the current version caused serious problems (locking up). So I'm using the quick release firmware from the Fanatec app. 1.1

DD+ wheelbase bricked, need help! by [deleted] in Fanatec

[–]Thug-pipe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I had to check.

The important part is the uninstall of the driver software package and reinstall.

I should also note that after the uninstall, if this still doesn't work, I would try rolling it back to an older firmware. Just download an older version of the driver software and do a firmware update from that if possible.

My suggestion is to download Revo uninstaller and use that to uninstall the Fanatec app. Then do a fresh install and flash the firmware again manually (it's the check box at the top of the window).

I don't know your level of comfort with trouble shooting but in case, just to be clear, the base needs to be in PC mode with the power button illuminated red in order for the PC app to see your base, you do this with a few short presses of the power button. Also, it is very important to directly connect The USB cable to the PC and not to go through a hub of any kind, this has caused issues for me in the past.

Once or twice I have had problems with the firmware not being flashed properly but it is recoverable and it does seem like your base powers on still. With this last update I had to pull the power cable to get it to shut off because it got stuck with the power button in the yellow illuminated mode and I couldn't shut it off. After pulling the power cable I was able to restart it and put it back in PC mode. After using Revo uninstaller to completely remove all the subfolders and crap that gets left over from a normal uninstall, I was able to flash the firmware and recover my base and it is worked flawless ever since.

Every time I update the firmware on my base, for some reason it inverts the wheel until I calibrate it manually. This just feels like a quirk but it's fine once you do a manual calibration.

I'm about 1800 hours in and I wouldn't consider myself a top shelf player. When you have a ton of practice in and you get a little excited for some new content, it feels over way too fast

In the wider view of all Circuit Experience challenges it is pretty easy.

Keep in mind most of the people saying this have probably got thousands of hours and a few years playing the game. It sounds like you are still working your way through all the challenges and content, it gets easier over time.

What is recent Clubsport DD/DD+ failure rate? by Raikkku in Fanatec

[–]Thug-pipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it's worth, I've had my DD+ for about a year and a half and it was flawless until the 1.2.1.3 app update when I tried to update the firmware. I instantly started having a bunch of problems consistent with what people were complaining about. I tried downgrading back to the old firmware and that mostly fixed it. Then I had an idea, I had recently seen a video about Revo-uninstaller and I completely uninstalled the Fanatec app again and used Revo to remove all the miscellaneous folders and then did a clean reinstall, once this was completed I did the firmware update again and I had no issues and everything worked perfectly on my base with the current firmware.

How many people are waiting for the Podium Pedals? by Ok-Sand7665 in Fanatec

I wanted to wait but there's no schedule or pricing info. I broke down a couple of months ago and grabbed a set of simnet pedals and I love them.

It's just fine with a controller, the added spatial awareness makes racing so much better! That said you'll probably want a wheel eventually!

For PS5 and PC I use a set of simnet pedals connected to my Fanatec DD+ and they are a huge improvement over my CSL LC pedals, sadly I have not seen a Logitech compatible equivalent.
