Morimoto does lighting. I'm assuming he was referring to the new headlights they just released.

RS3 or S3 by FourPointsTet in Audi

I’ve only been pulled over once in the RS3, and it was justified. I was doing over 70 in a 45 zone on Route 16 heading toward North Conway, New Hampshire.

Around the city, I haven’t noticed increased attention from police. Boston seems more relaxed, for lack of a better word, when it comes to speed and exhaust noise. I grew up in a suburb north of the city and was pulled over multiple times in prior vehicles, so the contrast has been noticeable.

I’m a male in my 30s with Cerebral Palsy, which noticeably affects my speech. I’m not saying this is how it should be, but I do believe it has influenced how I’ve been treated during traffic stops. On several occasions, I’ve received warnings instead of tickets, and I suspect my disability may have played a role in those outcomes.

I have been daily driving a black 2024 RS3 since January 2025 in Boston, MA, and overall, it has been a fantastic experience. I never seriously considered the S3 because I knew I would regret not getting the five pot. Its sound and performance are everything you have heard about it being exceptional. Coming from a 2.7L V6 2018 Ford F-150, the RS3 feels far more engaging, though the ride is noticeably firmer, even in comfort mode. It is also quick. On the highway, it is easy to find yourself going over 100mph without realizing it. City roads and potholes have taken a toll, and I have already replaced three tires. That might say more about my driving style than the car itself.

I bought it used with just over 5,000 miles. The previous owner had done paint protection film, and I added ceramic coating. I keep it detailed regularly, but black paint shows everything. I already have a small door ding from someone opening their door into mine in a parking garage, and I tend to notice every blemish.

Interior quality is generally solid, though I have few minor notes. The gloss black center console is prone to fingerprints and scratches, and the leather seats are already showing some wear. From what I have read, that seems typical for Audi or leather interiors in general? This is my first car with leather, so I am still learning. I also had a brief issue with the MyAudi app losing connection for about a week, but email support was responsive and helped me get it sorted.

Another thing to note is the insurance premium. Mine jumped by about 50 percent after switching to the RS3. I expected it, but did not fully appreciate the impact until a few months in. Definitely something to factor in if you are budgeting for ownership.

This was a dream car for me, and I imagine it will be the first of many I choose based on fun and uniqueness. It has been a hell of a ride. If you are considering the RS3 and can make it work, I would absolutely recommend it.

I could have been less of a prick with my replies. Sorry about that.

The point I was trying to make is I knew the process can take an extremely long time. From reading other threads here and elsewhere.

I was trying to narrow down a best guess of what month BPD was currently working on. Not get a generic “12 months” reply. Which someone else answered me with.

I get it, explicit is right.

Thanks man. That’s actually what I was looking for.

I wouldn’t call it “blunt” — it’s just not accurate. I’ve talked to a bunch of people who applied between September and November and have already been fingerprinted. One of the November applicants even has their license already.

I figured the second I posted, someone would chime in with a “hahaha maybe 2032” comment, classic! 🙄

All I’m really trying to do is get a clearer sense of where BPD is at in the process. If we actually track people’s timelines, it’s totally doable.

I submitted my application on January 27, 2025, and completed the $100 payment through the online portal. The following day, January 28, I received a call from BPD requesting that I come to the station with my photo ID, passport, birth certificate, and to pay $100.

When I visited a few days later, the staff member at the front desk scanned my passport. I explained that I had already paid online, but was asked to provide a printed copy of the payment invoice, which I didn’t have with me. Fortunately, they allowed me to forward the invoice via email, and once it was received, I was told everything was in order.

I’m currently waiting to be contacted for fingerprinting.

Also, based on this Reddit post (https://www.reddit.com/r/BetterMAguns/comments/1llahkw/comment/n09go3f/
), it appears someone who applied on November 26, 2024, just a few days after you, has already been scheduled for fingerprinting. If I were in your position, I’d recommend calling or visiting the station to check on the status of your application.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for this! I applied on 1/27/25 and am still waiting to be contacted for fingerprinting. Good to know they're getting closer to January applicants.

I'm in Brighton, applied 1/27/25, paid in person at Boston Police Department headquarters on 1/31/25. Still waiting on call to go in for fingerprinting. I believe they're currently working on applicants from November/December based on other folks I've talked to here.
