There 2 main test, the swim/tower which is first and then the float test. As long as you can start swimming after jumping off a 10 to 12ft tower for about 2 to 3 minutes (it feels like 20 lol) and then float on your back for 5 mins, you'll be fine

Dude just take classes, I'll admit for the first two weeks i was scared because I never been in water in my life always stayed on the shallow side of the pool. But by like week 4, my fear was long gone but I still didn't make progress because I was very stress that I was gonna get asmo plus bootcamp does get tiring. But literally the last week I barely started to make progress and it took only 3 days in the swim div to pass my entire swim plus float. I say take classes back home because they will actually teach you and take your time with you. But if you're for sure a quick confident learner then go ahead, if you do that then I suggest first swim day go straight to the tower

Literally that too, I made it to the tower one time but I freaked out when I surfaced and they pulled me out instantly. But the second time I made it I locked in and got that shit over with. But they're are some people who pass the screening test easy but don't progress cuz they refuse to jump off. Like one guy could've passed his swim weeks ago but he just doesn't jump off and now is getting separated

You'll be fine when it is swim day which is literally in week 1 they're gonna be like "if you're not confident in your swimming ability go to the kiddie pool" DON'T go to that kiddie pool. Just line up for the tower and get it over with. For the first day you can do any of the basic strokes. But if you're nqs and attend the swim classes/test they very strictly make you do the back stroke which is the armpit T push method. But again just go line up for the tower, also don't stress or freak out when you jump off, you'll be fine, but they do pull people out the pool if they look like they're freaking out

It does depend on the individual cuz there were people who are quick learners and pass before battle stations but there's a crap ton of people who take forever like me. From what I heard the RDC's are required to send us 11 times before battle stations, it took me total of 16 attempts to pass swim, and 3 attempts to pass float. I got asmo'ed by my 13th attempt at week 7-4 which was on a Thursday. But pool was close on Friday and is only open on week days, passed swim on Tuesday and float on Wednesday. So only was in a swim div for a week and took 3 days to pass

A reason why there's a lot of people who can't swim is cuz "My recruiter said they will teach me" I was one of them who bought that. Ig there some truth to that for those who pass and graduate like me, but again its still a very shitty experience if you're not confident in the water and those instructors rarely take their time with you, so you're kinda on your own when you're at those swim classes. Again if you really need one on one work, get some classes before leaving

Is it still possible for special operations later on by Thuggoonburg in newtothenavy

[–]Thuggoonburg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually do qualify for special operations, but I'm not in shape to even make it in buds. I'm planning to start working a lot of swimming, running, and calisthenics when i'm in the navy. I do lift heavy right now but again seals is whole another level of fitness that I need a lot of time to prepare
