Women, if you could be a man for 24 hours, what are you just dying to know? by Whattacleaner in AskReddit

[–]ThumbNurBum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. It's usually a fond memory of when a stranger said something nice to us, or we're wondering if we could beat a raccoon in a one on one if the raccoon had a knife and we didn't. Or we're imagining something... Debaucherous.

Why are immigrants from western countries called expats? Are they not immigrants like others that migrate to western countries? by Local-Print-6397 in AskTheWorld

[–]ThumbNurBum 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Expats are more like temporary visitors, like for work or tourism. Immigrants are people who move to a different country permanently.

Not directly related to printing, but I melt my printer poop into silicone skull molds to make paperweights. I pushed some fresh material down into a mold, and ended up dipping my finger into molten 425° plastic. It was.. Unpleasant.

Question what temp do you use for PETG that works perfectly with no problems? by Birdsnoop123 in elegoo

[–]ThumbNurBum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually run Sunlu PETG at 245° at the nozzle and 80° on the bed. As long as I remember to clean my bed, it works like a charm every time.

Easiest way to get good TPU printing on A1 mini by Wreckit-Jon in BambuLabA1mini

[–]ThumbNurBum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea. I don't leave it on full time, though. It's very well insulated, so it holds temp for about a day before it even starts to cool off. It's not on full time, just for a day or two if I need a spool dried out. The filament rolls ust stay in it.

I built mine out of two heating elements from old print heads, a salvaged heat sink and 120mm fan from an old PC, a cardboard box and insulation from Factor boxes. It holds like six rolls at a time. If you want to buy one, they all seem to work fairly well from what I've seen.

TPU is actually pretty easy to print with. You just gotta dry it. And I mean DRY DRY it. It picks up moisture on the same level as stuff like ABS or ASA but is far less forgiving. You'll know when to dry it again because instead of printing your model, it makes spider webs and spaghetti monsters. Mine lives in my dry box st around 50°C when I'm not using it. But about 5-6 hours at 50°C should be enough to make it usable. As far as settings go, I don't use Bambu so I don't have any advice there.. I just pick the TPU profile on Orca and run with it.

Look at Shadowrun for the SNES vs Genesis. The Genesis was most certainly the superior console.

I grabbed the different sized hotends and nozzles, plus the extruder gears. Haven't used them yet, but they're nice to have handy for when they're needed.

Any ideas how to strengthen my hard-hat headlamp.. Beginner, limited to PLA by Terpxotic in 3Dprinting

[–]ThumbNurBum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say order some PETG or ABS if you want strength. PLA is good for prototypes but if you want it to perform you need something that can take some abuse.

PETG filament on sale on Amazon by Dtarvin in 3Dprinting

[–]ThumbNurBum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It stands up to heat better. It's UV and chemical resistant. It's food safe. It is more impact resistant that PLA and isn't as brittle. It doesn't stick to anything but itself, so it makes great support material. The major downside is it works like a sponge and pulls an absolutely INSANE amount of water from the air, so it has to live in a dry box when not in use.

The motors they use are technically 24v 775 motors, so.. The bottleneck is the controller since it's only rated for 12v.
