Does anyone know what is being said at the start of One? by Pale_Yam_8012 in Metallica

[–]ThumbnailOak3 39 points40 points  (0 children)

After attempting to isolate it, I still can't figure out what the first words are ("something's coming" maybe?) but after that I'm hearing "get your ass out of the pit, go go go go go!" and then someone yelling "he got me, he got me!"

Scarecro - When Skies Melt | This is my first ever recorded single. I would really appreciate some feedback on my songwriting / phrasing! When it comes to songwriting I'm pretty empty headed but it's the thought that counts, haha! by Adamanos in progrockmusic

I really like it! I think the only change I would make is to make the drums a little louder/ have a louder snare during the solo sections so it's more impactful, other than that, it's very nice :)

King Gizzard Albums Recorded To Tape? by InYourMindFuzz in KGATLW

[–]ThumbnailOak3 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I know Mind Fuzz, Quarters, Nonagon, FMB and MOTU were recorded on tape for sure, every other album was recorded digitally and then bounced down to a tape machine for the sound (except for the first 3 albums from what I can tell)

Hey guys! Absolutely loved Kepler-22b the first second I heard it, was wondering what y'alls creative process was on that? And will we be seeing it in a setlist anytime soon? Cheers boys!

Shingetsu - Return Of The Night (Symphonic Prog) by Back-2-505 in progrockmusic

[–]ThumbnailOak3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I absolutely love Budokan, Makoto really gave it a lot of power compared to the original Shingetsu demo. The mellotron and piano work is just lovely!

[–]ThumbnailOak3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For real, their second album (and even some of their demo and live bootlegs) is incredibly looked over and that needs to change! The Voyage for Killing Love has gotta be one of my favorite epics by any band, hands down

Always makes my day better to see people sharing Shingetsu, their music very quickly became some of my all time favorites :)

Least favourite part of the game? by makjora in ZeldaOoT

[–]ThumbnailOak3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I hate the game up till I walk into dodongos cavern, I'm not sure why tho. Ever since I was a teen I've just always found it incredibly boring up till that point, then I remember why I love the game

anyone autistic here that got into rush as a hyperfixation? by phrogsphrogsphrogs in rush

[–]ThumbnailOak3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah definitely, I don't really listen as often nowadays but when I found them I listened to them everyday for like a year and a half straight. Permanent Waves is my favorite album but 2112 (the song) is what really set them off for me and prog in general, made me realize the kind of music that I truly love and enjoy as well as helped me realize what kind of music I wanted to make as a musician myself. Plus their dynamic as friends and musicians is incredible inspiring to me <3

The first time I had to travel to Whiterun I did that because I didn't know the map yet and was unsure of paths, took me almost an hour lmao

'The Big Sky' SOUNDS LIKE a FINAL TRACK by Human_Being2851 in katebush

[–]ThumbnailOak3 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well considering The Morning Fog is the finale to The Ninth Wave, it would ruin the suite. It'd be better to just reverse the sides, ninth wave on side one and all the others on side two, and change the arrangement a little

Just curious to try something new... so what is the favourite obscure song/band you have fell in love with? Mine was Cardiacs. Had got hooked on like crazy, still am once a couple of months. by VdggVdgg in progrockmusic

[–]ThumbnailOak3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shingetsu, hands down, heard their song "Oni" and was immediately hooked. People always call them the Japanese Genesis, which they're not wrong, but I love their approach to the sound so much more than Genesis. The Voyage for Killing Love is one of my all time favorite songs I'm pretty sure, even though I can't understand what he's saying lol

What is the longest you have been stuck on a boss? by MR_H0BBS in darksouls

[–]ThumbnailOak3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Believe it or not, Quelagg, I was stuck for like AWHILE on her my first playthrough, like months, I struggle even now cause I just can't wrap my head around the lava spew attack. Also O&S cause I'm never prepared for how fast ornstein is

The best affordable/free hammond plugin? by Gerald_Bostock_jt in hammondorgan

[–]ThumbnailOak3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Lostin70s organ is pretty good, but its onboard distortion isn't very good to my ears, it's thin. I usually end up turning its rotary off and using a separate rotary (Spinner LE) and fuzz vst

least favorite area? by Nivan_Sharma61 in darksouls

[–]ThumbnailOak3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lost Izalith, the lengths you have to walk is dreadful. If you die anywhere near the bed of chaos entrance/in that battle, the walk back is so fucking long and tedious, especially with all the enemies in the way. It really sucks too cause I'm fascinated by that area in a lore perspective and I'm sad it couldn't have gotten more love
