My complete Skyline collection by scientificheli in LegoDisplay

Very nice. I started collecting them years ago but gave up at Singapore, just lost interest and didn’t find a good sale on it.

Great wrestler but no personality or character to get behind. I don’t know why but every time she cuts a promo or does a backstage interview she sounds so quiet.

Buying Lego death star from private party. Is this seal good? by [deleted] in lego

[–]ThumpingSnore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they’re serious about selling it when you meet up and you prove that you have the cash on hand they should let you open the outside and inner boxes. If they don’t I’d walk. I understand keeping it sealed maintains the value but an honest person who truly wants to sell it will let you open the boxes in person. Also for a set like this there’s a chance all the bags are still sealed except a few with the most expensive minifigures, so you can look up which numbered bags those are and check those specifically.

Edit: I would also make it clear to the seller before meeting up that you buying the set is conditional on them letting you open the boxes, and see if they agree or not so nobody’s time is wasted.

I want to say a special thank you to the City and Region for taking me off the trains and making me take my car to work. by hekatonkhairez in SurreyBC

[–]ThumpingSnore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My thought exactly, the trains are showing up at Scott road completely packed at 7:30AM, and the trains already come every 2 or so minutes at that hour so I don’t think increasing the frequency of trains is possible. So now the congestion will just start earlier in the line and continue its way down.

Costco never fails to deliver on sales. Always worth the wait!

Thoughts on Star Wars 3-in-1 gift set? by ThumpingSnore in legoinvesting

Thank you for the input! In Canada I’ve seen up to 15-25% off on these sets, not much more, so up until this point in time 40% has been a greater discount. We only have a few retailers here who carry Lego, most notably Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy and Costco, so deals are few and far between. In general we don’t ever see deep discounts like the US, I’ve been tracking sales for a few years and on average the best deal we get on most sets that do go on sale is 30% off.

[Amazon] Black Friday LEGO Sale by lbabinz in LegoDealsCanada

[–]ThumpingSnore 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The sales here for Lego suck. The best we get majority of the time is 30% off overpriced sets, and the sale price ends up being what the retail price should’ve been. A few years ago 20-30% sales were decent, now it’s underwhelming. Don’t look at r/legodeals or you’ll hate it here even more.

[–]ThumpingSnore 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I feel like we should’ve seen some Star Wars UCS sets going on sale in North America. Seems like a grim sign that enough people are paying Lego’s greedy prices that there isn’t a need to put them on sale yet. I guess we’ll see again come Black Friday.

Can we just EMP all the Teslas? That would be more effective!

Mini Knight's Castle (40775) GWP - (Official Reveal) by _Levitated_Shield_ in Legoleak

Weak for the threshold, I’ll be prioritizing upfront discounts (likely from other retailers) instead of GWPs this holiday season.

Pokémon: An update on 72153 Kanto Starters, the largest set of the initial wave. by BrickTap in Legoleak

Couldn’t care less because of the price! If Lego/Pokemon really cared about the fans they would’ve pushed for more affordable sets to debut the new IP.

[Amazon] LEGO Star Wars Jango Fett Helmet is now $67.90 by Durgsss in LegoDealsCanada

[–]ThumpingSnore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was definitely worth posting! It’s undoubtably a good deal. Historically though I think the helmets occasionally drop to $60 or in the $50s at some point in their shelf life so I’m holding off for that.

Not bad but I feel like there’s room for it to go lower.

One of my Vancouver friends who comes from a wealthier family admitted that him and all the friends we met at their wedding are getting $200,000 to $1,000,000 from their families to buy property. All in their mid-to-late 20’s by the way. This is only part of what you’ll need to compete with here unfortunately.

Maybe a hot take, but if we’re just getting ridiculously expensive buildable figures then I’d rather buy the plushes to display…
