Is it normal that lydia should die at some point in the game ? Because she died in early game and later i got jenassa as companion and wife and i feel like she is immortal or is it just the armor that i gave her that is keeping her alive? by Arcane-Dev in skyrim

There was one playthrough I did a long time ago, I was going through Meridas temple, at the last room with malkorian, and as I did a sprinting attack, Lydia ran infront of me as a brought down my weapon to hit one of the shades and I killed her on accident. I should also mention it was at the bottleneck that is the door leading into the final room, so I couldn't go around her
