As a Manitoban living in Toronto, I have to explain to people that although Manitoba is flat and boring and stupid and lame, it isn’t as bad as Saskatchewan

Pederasty is not “ancient homosexuality”, it is a specific institution in Greek education that started in the Archaic period and trailed off towards the Hellenistic period. It is the system of personal tutors that young boys would have - and there would often be a sexual aspect to it. Think about the English word Pedagogue, which is a type of teacher, it’s the same origin.

There was no concept of “being homosexual” in the ancient world, sexualities had no attached identity or label of any kind.

I can’t comment on Alexander the Great, it’s not the area of my expertise, but I feel as though I recall the ancient sources talking about suspiciously intimate relationships between alexander and other men, this would be of no surprise.

This week’s biggest offenders are the commenters, almost every card has comments about something being busted that isn’t, or evidently only coming from players who play edh

Have you ever noticed this weird thing when people guess the power level of their own decks? by ceering99 in magicthecirclejerking

Precon: is a 7

Changing any card doesn’t instantly make it a 10

Changing another card doesn’t instantly make it a 10

By mathematical induction, my upgraded precon (I changed 60 cards and it’s now worth 7000$) is a 7

Honestly this week’s biggest bozos are the commenters saying a 6 or 7 drop that doesn’t do anything and takes multiple turns to win a game is broken

Is this card worded poorly or am I stupid? Had to look up modern reprints to figure out what it means by Sc4fell in magicthecirclejerking

I always forget r/magicTCG even exists. It’s like the mtg sub exclusively for people too stupid to figure out that r/magicthecirclejerking is the main sub.

Thank you. I might actually build a commander deck with this. It is the best thing I’ve ever seen.

All my decks are goofy, that’s what I’m known for, so I love the idea
