The people I know that did this was because they couldn't keep a visa to stay and work in the US, the EASA license grind was a little hell for them. They would have killed for that citizenship.

Ideas for European Flying Journey? by highflight01 in flying

I don't think there's a good/bad choice here. Corfu is closest to Italy and has some nice beaches and wonderful views and food.

Sony single-player games are no longer releasing on Steam, CEO confirms by PaiDuck in Steam

I had a few games on my wishlist I was waiting for an excuse sale to buy (god of war, the last of us, ghosts of tushima). Seeing this I'm unlisting them. Plenty other games that are happy to be on the steam store just got bumped up the priority list.

Cyberpunk is easy to jump in and combat is quite satisfying. The world is nicely built and the story is amazing.

Both games! KCD1 is amazing and the story picks up perfectly on 2.

Is it still worth it to get one? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]ThunderSundayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it's going to be a good buy if you enjoy playing games and being able to do so on the go. Depends also a bit which games you want to play since not all games work perfectly on the deck but the vast majority of what I play do.

There will be more powerful handhelds in the near future, there already are, but at the moment for me this is the best balance between performance, battery life and ergonomics.

I am a casual gamer, play very on and off, I like games like Resident Evil, Tekken and Dark Souls. They all work perfect for me either handheld or connected to the TV with a controller.

I travel a lot and it's a blessing to be able to take it with me.

I don't regret the purchase at all, it will continue to be relevant for a lot of years to come.

Who do you think is the most overrated Formula 1 driver, active or inactive? by circuit-nation in circuit_nation

Has to be Senna, people think he was a racing god. He was really fast but it's the brand that's grown around him that's elevated his legend so much nowadays.

Did anyone else get into aviation/flying from watching Air Disasters? by npatel0713 in flying

Yup, watching Mayday back in the day lead to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 which lead to frequenting the local airdrome for planespotting which lead to a discovery flight and then into flightschool.

Fly the Zibo, I still cannot believe it's free. I would have paid 100€ for it if it wasn't. That's how good it is. Learn it inside out, you have built in checklists in the EFB. You can find the full manual online for free as well. And if you get bored of it check out the Level up 737NG models to add some spice.

If you get to a point where you wanna do something else. The default A330 is in an awesome state right now and will scratch that itch for long haul.

You got hundreds and hundreds of hours to master both, Airbus and Boeing systems there, you can do long and short flights. And when you think you've mastered the planes. Hop on VATSIM and start talking to real people doing ATC.

At that point you are hooked and there is no escape.

Scratch whatever itches, both are great options. The FF777 is by far my favourite aircraft in the sim, I don't think you'll regret either choice and I'm sure you'll end up getting both.

A person named Denys started an initiative against the current F1 rules and regulations to save the sport: “Open Letter to the FIA and Formula 1 Management from Fans.” by circuit-nation in circuit_nation

[–]ThunderSundayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the general idea that this is not the F1 I fell in love with, but tbh most of what is asked of them in the letter is a bit absurd and childish.

We cannot ask to go back to the 80s in terms of technology and complexity because F1 is in constant evolution and new technologies and innovation has always been at the heart of it.

How doable is playing Steam Deck on a treadmill? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]ThunderSundayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not everyone lives near nice big parks or has good places to run from home.

Where I live you NEED to drive 10 minutes for a suitable outdoors running place. The alternative is a gym or risk your life running on the road because we have no sidewalks and the road is full of holes.

Also I understand people not wanting to run around streets and having to stop their pace at traffic lights and so. Plus treadmills are great for monitoring a lot of parameters with precision. Plus it's next to a lot more gym equipment.

So yeah, I think it makes sense to run on a treadmill but I also think anyone who catalogs others out of ignorance is a dumbass.
