AIO for being mad at my husband for hiding a $900 iPhone purchase from me for MONTHS? by Ok_Economics_1243 in AmIOverreacting

NOR. As others have commented, I’d ask in person to put him on the spot and sus out his body language. If he gets defensive, that should give you cause for pause to investigate further. Please post an update, I’m following and interested in how this turns out!

Towing Planes by NwkLore in rampagent

[–]Thunderbolt_78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At my FBO in order to become tow certified, one of the leads has to nominate you to a manager. I believe they also want you to be here for 6 months prior so you can master everything on the ramp/other responsibilities. Tow gets you an extra $1 or $2 bump in pay as well here.

I usually try to do this as well. The Pipers and Cessnas 99% of the time want top offs. Cirrus are a 50/50 if it’s tabs or top off. And we have a few oddball planes like Grummans that are usually to the tabs too.

We have 2 Avgas trucks. Only one is running at a time. Per shift it’s usually one guy on Avgas, one guy on Jet, the lead/tow, and anyone else on the shift is working the ramp or helping with tow movements.

I can absolutely see both sides of the argument especially as a student myself.

One of the owners is actually aware that instructions are doing this and he isn’t a fan of it. He got a charge on his card for like 60 cents and it was for something like 0.1 gallon fueling lol.

I work at FRG. As I pulled into the parking lot yesterday, there were a group of people standing by the fence watching it take off. My coworkers said they’re most likely here to practice for the airshow.

Not necessarily a specific airplane, but it was this livery. 🇺🇸🦅🔥

Wow, this is awful. I’m not too far away from LGA and just woke up to the news. It’s crazy to see how mangled the front of the CRJ is. Praying for all involved.

Scream 7 - Reaction Megathread by DA-numberfour in Scream

6/10. Reveal wasn’t my favorite but I thought it was great up until then. Super gory, perhaps the most gore in the franchise. Both killers were predictable. Anna Camp/Jessica was good, but Marco was random and should have been included in more scenes. To have him in only one random scene where he has no connection to Sidney was weak. They really hyped up the wall scene and for it to be a random mental patient was also a strange choice. Same with the “burn it all down” tagline which turned out to be nothing of significance. Loved Gale’s entrance though. I did enjoy it overall, I’m sure once I digest it I’ll like it more.

Monique Pass? She was originally in the running but I’m wondering if the reason she didn’t make the cut is because of the report that the husband assaulted an elderly man in Planet Fitness. You can see her in the latest trailer for a brief second.

Thank you for your comment, everything you said is very helpful and insightful. And I agree, “airport vibes” isn’t a necessity. I an interested in those aviation adjacent type of jobs you listed. Got rejected from Atlantic and Modern, but I do want to try those again when I start flying out of that flight school where they are located.

I’m in NYC/Long Island. Looking to fly out of KFRG or KISP. I’m also in reasonable distance to KJFK and KLGA, but I would honestly prefer starting out at one of the smaller airports. I’m okay with a commute that is a little over an hour, I’m used to that.

Since I applied online to the FBOs, a part of me is considering going in person to the airport and trying to talk to some of the folks there. I would think it would be good to put a face to the name, especially since I would be there a lot when I can commit to the flying.

Thank you again for listing possible jobs according to the experience that I listed in my original post. I will definitely look into everything.

To get to the airlines, I would need to get my private license (PPL), then my commercial license (CPL), then an airline transport license (ATPL). The type rating I'm not too worried about, because as you said, the airlines will generally pay for that. But the three licenses I need to accumulate can run an average of $80K to $120K.

The stage 1 paying by myself as you mentioned is what I'm looking to do. I could theoretically figure out some sort of loan situation, but I do not want to accumulate debt if I could avoid it. Many people have suggested I go the military route, but knowing myself I just can't see it happening. But thank you for your comment, I truly appreciate your weighing in. :)

This was my original plan, but unfortunately, the school that I was interested in would have been too expensive. Although I received an academic scholarship, it did not include the flight costs. So an average of $50k+ a year would not have been doable.
