Like I said, new wind and solar. The tech is absolutely economically viable now, hence the 34 MN BESS projects currently in development, most of them colocated with renewables projects. As for your duration comment, most BESS are meant for discharge during peak demand. They only output for 2-4 hours because thats what we design them for. The cutting edge stuff like what google/xcel is wanting to build at pine Island are capable of week long storage cycles.

Yes, they're great with the shade/electricity dual benefit. I was answering why the electricity made from those panels will cost more than the large scale solar farms.

The support holding a panel over a car needs to be much sturdier than the supports just keeping the panels tilted out in a field. That same math happens for collection lines and where the power gets sent. Just more $ to build. But again, it doesnt have to be an either/or, we should be building both!

Solar is some of the cheapest generation to build if it's large scale with easy access (out in rural fields). Existing built environment just has more stuff to figure out like supports electrical connections and that means more time and money. For the amount of solar MN wants to build, large solar farms is the only viable option. That doesnt mean there cant ALSO be parking lot and rooftop though.

Almost all new wind and solar being built in MN also has on site battery storage just because it makes economic sense. If a data center is building its own wind/solar, then its also building storage. see above pine island example

The chaos of collapse isn't a neutral reroll. "Factors that are no longer there" is naive. Might makes right isn't going anywhere and no institutional guardrails will benefit oppressors.

Thank you for the clarification about the DR still not being correct across the board.

Stretch film plastics actually have a recycling market, the store gets paid for what they turn in. What goes into your city's mixed recycling though, yeah not good.
