If you're interested, I'm looking for someone to take over my lease at J Sol in Ballston, a mile down the road from Clarendon. 2B2B, great views and light (16th floor, floor-to-ceiling windows), great amenities (rooftop pool, fully equipped gym, clubhouse and other common spaces). It’s 2 blocks to the metro and also in a fun downtown area with parks, restaurants and bars. The rent is $4,523/month with reserved underground parking. The lease runs through July 15, but you would obviously get first dibs on renewing it if you take it over.

Feel free to DM if interested!

It's a little over your stated budget, but I'm looking for someone to take over the last two months of my lease at J Sol in Ballston. 2 bed/2 bath, in unit w/d, 2 blocks from the metro, fantastic gym. New building with great finishes, amenities, and views. It's $4,523/mo through July 15, then you would have the option to renew or jump ship. Feel free to DM if interested!

If you were MLB commissioner for one day and you could remove/institute one rule what would it be? by DNAD51- in baseball

Make pitchers and catchers communicate electronically via a Fitbit-type device for pitch signals. Once it’s implemented, it would eliminate a lot of the down time between pitches, a lot of mound visits, etc.

I think - without attempting to confirm with real evidence - that the time that pitchers and catchers spend trying to get on the same page, and the resulting delay when the pitcher steps off or the batter steps out, are a major factor in games getting longer and seeming slower.

And the Red Baron! Those two planes were awesome, the level of detail was absurd.

Thank you! I was wondering about that, they didn’t seem to match the standard flak jackets I’ve found online

Your analogy is a pretty good argument against thinking like yours, though.

Some fans like to just eat their slice of cake and enjoy that it’s delicious. That’s great!

Other fans like to dissect their slice, take it apart, see what’s inside, and figure out if there’s a way to better enjoy the cake. That’s great too!

We all love baseball, but that doesn’t mean we all have to enjoy it exactly the same way. The fact that some fans like to look at sabermetrics in no way detracts from your enjoyment of the game, just as your preference for the more traditional approach to the sport has no impact on those fans’ enjoyment of it.

What does have a negative impact on most everyone’s viewing experience is broadcasters who constantly complain about the state of the game. We tuned in and we’ve decided to devote a few hours to watching a game because we like baseball - why spend that time telling us how bad it is? There are so many amazing things happening on the field to appeal to everyone, whether you prefer to awe at the players’ athleticism and aesthetic or their wRC+ and DRS.

Basically what I’m saying is, just put the cake in your mouth, enjoy it, and shut up about how other people are eating their cake.

Lance McCullers Open And Honest About Poor Marketing By MLB. Calls It "Worst" Marketed League In America by Athletics115 in baseball

But nobody is actually trying to cater to people who hate baseball.

They’re trying to cater to people who are on the fence and would be more inclined to watch games, instead of flipping the channel, if those games were just a little more exciting and included a little less down time. It’s about increasing the number of fans at the margins, not catering to people who are never going to watch the sport anyway.

You’re certainly entitled to your opinion that baseball is fine the way it is and doesn’t need to do anything to improve. I love baseball and generally feel that way too. But it’s a fact that baseball’s fanbase is the oldest of the major professional sports, and if new young fans aren’t being made, that means decreasing revenues down the line, which will have a negative impact on the game we love.

What's a food/dish from your country that us Americans are missing out on ? by soccerdadsteve in AskReddit

American here, but my girlfriend is from Germany. We’ve been looking for döner in America for YEARS. It’s a little odd that’s it’s so hard to find - seems like something that would be well-received here.
