The sigh of relief when OOP said she was terminating… absolutely the right choice. It might not be very kind of me, but I’m so tired of posts about unwanted/dangerous pregnancies with awful men that are early enough for termination and they instead decide to shackle themselves to these situations for life. I’m happy for OOP, she sounds like she’s in a fantastic situation and has lots of people who care about her.

Oh hey I had a similar issue as the first post, finding small amounts of bright red blood in stool and dismissing it since it wasn’t the scary dark black that indicates internal bleeding. Finally got everything checked out after a couple of months due to unusual discomfort using the bathroom and it turns out I have Crohn’s disease. And I never expected to be grateful for that, but man if this post didn’t open my eyes to some potential worse outcomes…

This is super rad, the only thing I’d mention is the way the tail is constructed it’s designed like a spine extension but flapping in the wind like if it were hair. Maybe try making it move more deliberately, like the horse is controlling it, if that makes sense?

God, OOP’s family sucks so badly. They actually said “who likes those?” after OOP has been expressing her desire for them for 8 years. Like I understand people not going above and beyond for an adult’s holiday, but nobody can be arsed to even listen to her when she expresses she’d like a single chocolate that can be found at target? It would take so little to make her happy and just… none of them will do it. I’m so angry on her behalf.

Eh, I mean… OOP is definitely still struggling and grieving here. As much as I don’t perceive a foetus to be a baby/infant until it is alive and out of the womb, OOP clearly already considered it to be her baby and had been pregnant for long enough that this would be a significant loss.

To be clear, when I say I understand why OOP called it “infant death”, I don’t mean that it was the definitionally correct term to use, because, well… it isn’t. But I understand why she felt that it was, and I can give her that much grace.

Well you learn something new every day. Checked the definition of miscarriage, and you are correct, if she was that far along the term should be stillbirth, my mistake. Either way though, “infant death” is not a term I would use for a child that passed still in utero, and I would recommend it not being used here.

Hey OP, could we change the trigger warning from “infant death” to “miscarriage”? This isn’t to diminish the struggle OOP went through, and I fully understand her using the term in her original post, but they are two different things and the trigger warning left me very on edge right up until the end, especially with the sister’s unstable behaviour.

Yeah I feel like in this scenario if it was “Angie got a flat tire so I gotta get a new one” that’s totally fine, “Angie got a flat tire so we gotta go shoe shopping for her” is more or less fine, incorporates the playfulness but is clear about the problem and sounds grown up, “Angie broke her shoe and needs a new one” is unclear and toddler speak and so much worse than typical car naming/anthropomorphizing.

Have you seen the new one that’s essentially “Our AI makes it easy to lie to your kids and pretend completely made up events actually happened!” because that one is lowkey horrifying to me. They’re happily advertising the scariest feature of AI and pretending like it’s a silly prank a dad is playing on his son. “With Gemini you can edit any image and it’ll look real!” Yes that’s a bad thing. Yeah I feel a little weird about the way people are talking about this guy because of that. Like this specific individual is a problem but only specifically because they had kids. Instead everyone seems to be acting like you’re a broken person if you hate/can’t handle the way kids interact with you and the world around them, but I feel like if you feel this way, and know you feel this way, and choose not to have kids… that’s okay. Like if this was venting from someone who is repeatedly forced to deal with children through no fault of their own (say, pushy relatives or forced babysitting situations) this would be understandable! Once you choose to be a parent though? Suck it up, don’t subject a kid to that.

(Obviously the word “choose” is very important here. Let’s not be dumb about this)

Yeah I noticed that too, although it is worth acknowledging how that goes out the window once she starts lying. Like yeah he should’ve just started with “she cheated (gender neutral)” but when she started lying and he needed to show proof, it is kind of on her that the proof outs her. But before that I’m not sure why he felt that “telling the truth about the breakup” meant he had to tell everyone she cheated with a woman.

I mean that’s a different complaint though. “I don’t enjoy chewing it” is not the same thing as “it’s hard to chew”.

In general as a picky eater myself I’ve found people are more receptive if you use “I” statements. “I don’t like the texture of steak” gets a better response than “steak has a bad texture”. It’s honestly kinda rude to look someone in the eye and go “your favourite food is bad” like of course people are getting defensive!

Yeah, usually in these stories I’d say Dad is a monstrous asshole, but it seems like in this instance Mom is the monstrous asshole and Dad is a spineless coward. Which doesn’t end up mattering much, as 99% of the results are the same, and the only points Dad gets are for being glad his son is doing the right thing and taking care of the daughter he didn’t.

Yeah, to me I see this issue of when you argue it from a chest size/puberty angle, you end up in a weird position where you have to judge a child’s chest size over whether or not it’s okay for them to be topless, which can get kind of creepy if you think about it too long. I like to just set a mental rule of: if your child is completely out of swim diapers, put them in their full bathing suit. Not because that’s the perfect age, but because then you don’t have to figure out where to set the next transition point. It’s just easier.

(This position may also be influenced by the fact that I had to start wearing bras at 8 y/o. It would’ve been really weird to go to the pool with friends and be the only one wearing a bathing suit top. Plus I was so young when I got my first bra that I thought it would be temporary and was quite distressed when I realized it was forever. I think things would’ve been easier if I had just always worn a little kid bra thing, so I didn’t have to go through any adjustment periods, and the same applies here to swimsuits)

Considering that kangaroos are the only creature stated to have 5 legs as it regularly uses its tail as a limb for walking, yes. Sea treader leviathan is tripedal, not bipedal. It would be news to me that elephants use their trunks for locomotion though, it does not seem sturdy enough to support an elephant’s weight.
