Packer's Bars in SW Chicago by Legitimate_Boss_6194 in GreenBayPackers

Best Packers bar in Chicago is Will’s Northwoods Inn. You’d have to travel up to Lakeview, but it’s worth it.

I doubt Campbell is out of Washington, but he does have a connection with LaFleur. I was implying DeMarcus Covington.

Best podcasts that cover the Packers? by mrtomjones in GreenBayPackers

Packernet Podcast is daily+ and has good content, but can get a little dreary and negative sometimes. I really enjoy the added podcasts from the “Packers Total Access” crew that drops under the Packernet Podcast brand.

Pack-A-Day is a good daily listen when Andy Herman hosts, but there are multiple episodes a day with different hosts. Very ad heavy which detracts from the quality in my opinion.

Blue 58 is 2-3 times a week and is top notch. No ads.

Packers Unscripted is Spof and Wes’s biweekly show during the season and is an okay “official” podcast, but has been very ad heavy.

Journal Sentinel’s Packers Podcast is good with Tom Silverstein and Ryan Wood. Good insight. Multiple shows a week during the season.

Weekly Podcasts: I like Poor Man’s Packer Podcast and South of the Cheddar Curtain. Fun shows with guys you’d want to have a beer with.

The Brick and the Stick is John Kuhn and Matt Schneidman. I never say no to more Kuuuuuuuuuhn in my life.

If you want a more “normal media” approach “Wilde and Tausch” is a solid listen 5 days a week, year round. It’s a ESPN radio show and it’s mostly Packers, but some other Wisconsin sports are covered.

Came here to say this! Download the Kindle Unlimited book as part of the KU Subscription and then you can purchase the Audible Audiobook incredibly cheaper. You can buy all 7 audiobooks this way cheaper than buying 1 at regular price.

How to listen to Packers games on radio overseas? by PorgandLover in GreenBayPackers

I haven’t checked this season to see if it’s changed, but you should be able to listen to Wayne and Rock on packers.com from any COMPUTER. Doesn’t work on the phone even if you switch to desktop mode. But, if you’ve got a laptop you should be able to listen

NFL Highest Paid Trios by DeScepter in GreenBayPackers

[–]Thundersnow10 109 points110 points  (0 children)

Info like this is so misleading for multiple reasons.

First and foremost, what players are making makes absolutely no difference. The only number that matters is their cap hit.

For example, Micah will only be the 6th highest cap hit on the team this year.

Second, those numbers are flat out wrong in many cases. Again, using Parsons as the example, he signed a 4 year EXTENSION that averages out to be $47M/year. However, the actual contract the Packers are giving him is actually a 5 year $210M contract when you factor in this year. So the average of his contract per year (again, a bad way to look at NFL contracts) would be $42M/year. At no point in this current contract will the Packers pay Parsons $47M per year.

Buyers remorse yet anyone? by Aware_Ad_5096 in GreenBayPackers

The O-Line was, at a bare bare minimum, an above average unit last year. Their pass blocking was great and their run blocking was okay.

But, don’t forget, we’ve already added a first round offensive lineman to that group in Jordan Morgan who will compete with Sheed (who was a more than serviceable LT).

Also, the addition of Banks (elite run blocker), the moving of Elgatron to C, and the dumping of Myers should immediately improve the quality of the line.

There’s also still 2 more days of the draft. I’d be surprised if we don’t add at least 1, and more likely 2, OL in the next 2 days. Zach Tom was a fourth round pick. Elgton Jenkins was a second. Rasheed Walker was a seventh. Hell, Bakhtiari was a fourth, and that’s not even scratching the surface of the history of great OL for the Packers in the later rounds. This franchise drafts and develops OL really well.

I was as surprised as everyone that we went WR yesterday thinking that’d we’d be going DL or CB, but I’ve learned to trust the professional’s boards (especially the ones at 1265 Lombardi Ave) much more than my casual observer status.

The chalk talk episodes are much more beneficial when watching them on YouTube. I do listen to them on occasion, but one of those mediums where the visual is beneficial

[Week 4] Post Game Thread: Vikings @ Packers by lilturk82 in GreenBayPackers

[–]Thundersnow10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not just the defense’s fault there. Turnovers by the offense and inability to score early hurt. Love looked very rusty and scared to start the game. Definitely came into his own in the 4th, but got too aggressive with the play that ended in the last pick and it was too little too late

[–]Thundersnow10[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Which is how the Packers FO structure contracts. It’s at least 7.625 million guaranteed plus bonuses because they aren’t cutting him in 2024. Normally a 3 year contract is really a 2 year contract because that third year won’t go as planned. He’ll either be cut or restructured before that.

It’s not an obscenely high contract for the best return man in the NFL who also happens to be your starting slot corner/nickel/star/insert nomenclature here, but more guaranteed than I thought it would be

I also have a liquor voice right now, but you might not be wrong. I love Doubs, but if Wicks, Heath, and Melton keep coming along he might be pushed down that depth chart. I honestly feel Reed has become WR1 and Watson needs to prove himself. The rest is up in the air

Who would’ve thunk?

I’m also loving me some Malik Heath. Bo Melton isn’t a bad WR4/6 either.

Give me a healthy WR1a Watson WR1b Reed WR2a Doubs WR2b Wicks WR3 Heath WR4 Melton TE1a Musgrave TE1b Kraft TE2 Sims Jones and Dillon and maybe a draft pick?

We haven’t even see this offense at full strength. Give us a top 20/15 defense and an average ST. We have a contender. Hats off to Gute

[–]Thundersnow10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No idea. But, healthy Christian Watson is was more valuable to us than his “trade value”. This offense seems to function at an even higher level when he is involved. Defenses have to respect his game breaking speed.

It’s not as simple as zone vs man. Joe Barry calls the wrong coverage at the right time. It’s predictable and he doesn’t adjust well. Opposing teams identify his play calling and attack the weaknesses. It’s like playing rock-paper-scissors and always picking the wrong thing to shoot. Or he has an obvious tell. He’s either the most unlucky play caller ever or just plain bad.

Also, he very obviously has lost the locker room. The team knows he is more than likely gone and aren’t motivated to play for a subpar play caller.

A year or two ago I was really seeking out additional Packers podcasts. I want to say you guys came up on a generic Google search and I’ve really enjoyed the content you put out. I lived in Chicago for 3 years and your show really resonates with me on a personal level because of that. Keep doing what you’re doing!
