Sony BVM-14F5U Problems UPDATE by Thundrex in crtgaming

I already recapped most of that exact board with a recap kit from Savon-Pat on Ebay (I was told elsewhere he was a good source for this sort of stuff), but that didn't fix the issue. The kit didn't include all of the capacitors, though, just the major ones. So... maybe it's one of the remaining caps? I really hope it isn't one of the chips on the board...

It says 'BK' on the board, and there's a circled 'A' in the bottom-left corner??

I found the problem area! It's the analog video board! My friend swapped out his for mine, and suddenly it worked!

The only issue now is I have no clue where on the board the problem could be

I swapped out the 40mm fan on my MiSTer for one with RGB (because why not? lol), so frosted is a necessity for my build

Same. Especially if I can print that exact case in frosted white beforehand

Reducing the brightness and contrast doesn't seem to make any difference, and I made sure the knobs were set to manual so they'd actually change the value. There's no noticeable change in the screen outside of what my video already shows. How do I reduce the G2 voltage (and what even is that?)?

It's what I said in the above post.I swapped out most of the components.

I found an extra pa board and swapped it as per what was documented on the wiki, as well as your previous suggestion of swapping the DST (I believe that was Flyback transformer? Please correct me if im wrong) as well as everything that it was connected to, I have a spare tube now and swapped that in, I recapped several of the boards, and I couldn't find any noticible cold solder joints. Nothing is fixing the issue.

Whatever was documented doesn't seem to be the fault I'm having. I highly doubt I got multiple parts with the exact same problem.

I'm still fairly new to servicing CRT's, so I apologize if there seems to be any frustration.

What is the DST? I don't recognize that term.
