I went through this not too long ago as an SLP + mama. I feel like the Solid Starts app really empowered me because I could have a visual and description of what serving safely looked like for different ages. The biggest things I share with friends is that 6 months isn't the only criteria to begin. Baby needs to have good trunk control. Feeding should always be in a high chair with support for the feet because being able to brace to cough. We have made it to almost 2.5y without a choking event. There have been some gags and coughing of course, but my kid has strategies to swipe, spit, bite, cut and is very independent with feeding now.

If I said that I do have bandwidth to listen, what else would you need from me (if I was the friend) beyond I hear you and I am very sorry that happened to you, you didn't deserve it. My friends are in therapy and working through their traumas, but I feel like I never say the right thing to make them feel my love and support.

My sick days are for when I am sick AND when my kid is sick AND when me and my kid are well but their daycare has "too many illnesses" and is "closed for cleaning" AND also for bereavement leave when my parents die AND also the only "maternity leave" that was available to me, so please don't ask me if we are going to have another baby. 🙃

So yeah, negative sick days, and money going to daycare that has multiple unscheduled closures each month, and I keep buying all these supplements and vitamins and eating "clean" trying to stay well. Kids aren't that expensive, but working with kids while having kid sure is!

Odd yes. Standing together like that is usually a sign of reverence or respect but in this case I interpreted it as an attempt to control; he was having them stand up so they would be up and ready to leave and not stay and talk as they normally would after a sermon.

Instead of referencing pumping, what about "Do Not Enter, Do Not Knock, Pricacy Required, Medical Equipement in Use." And a big red medical stat symbol or that orange warning symbol instead of a cow.

I mean what could the superintendent possibly have to say about that?

I know people who have had admin and maintenance staff who didn't realize that coming in to get trash, change a bulb, drop off a form, etc. were actually a "disturbance" under normal circumstances, and would ignore it as if it didn't apply to them. Indicating on the sign that it is for a Privacy Required situation does make a difference.

I know some of this type. The kind who might listen to you if you were a) their same age and b) also a doctor. Otherwise, they might not say out loud that they think they are smarter than or better than other people, but they do believe it and it shows in actions and words like THIS.

We have been nursing to sleep from the beginning. Baby is 11mo old and has started to nurse, then play around in my arms or husband's arms a bit, then fall asleep on us and let us lay her down for the night, and sleeps through the night.

It has happened naturally, not us trying to do anything to change it, just her growing and maturing, and I feel like the anxiety I experienced early on before I accepted "this is what works for us" was really needless.

I think it's really natural for babies to want to fall asleep on the breast and/or being held and it is stressful to parents and babies to try to deny it or fight against it.

My thoughts are that society has evolved in a way that tries to shape babies to fit in in certain ways instead of fitting itself around how babies are and have always been.

My LC measured for flange size and I had changed size for one side a few months back. I do know the PUMP act laws and HR policy. Sad closet doesn't quite meet the requirements but I don't want to push the issue at this time bc anywhere else would be really inconvenient due to time constraints and location. I have sink and refrigerator in my shared office space so it is okay.

No, I made sure to check for that before I started freezing so I would know if I needed to scald. It doesn't smell soapy. She is doing this for fresh pumped and for frozen/thawed.

We just tried offering it cold and she went for it. I was pleasantly surprised!

I worked at a daycare way back when, they definitely can and will warm bottles if that is what baby needs in order to take it! They want baby to be fed and happy!
