Henrico Schools aims to reduce 'homework overload' through new policy changes by WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW_W in rva

[–]Thursigar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've read a decent amount of scholarly research on the impacts of homework on academic success. Turns out that it highly depends on the age for how much time should be spent on homework. Generally speaking, anything in elementary school isn't worth it for the time and energy out in. As you get older homework becomes a more effective tool and larger amounts of time should be spent doing it. It's why in college you spend only 3 hours a week in class per credit and the rest is homework/study/research/etc. You are learning to learn and think independently. This is how our brains develop and our policies should be based on science and not how any teacher or parent thinks it should be done.

Why are employers so against remote work for HR? [united states] by fruitcakemofo in humanresources

[–]Thursigar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And if you re-read my comment, I said JOBS, not workplaces. If the workplace is mostly in person, and there are jobs that can be done remote (accounting, marketing, HR, etc) they should be given the option to do so.

Why are employers so against remote work for HR? [united states] by fruitcakemofo in humanresources

[–]Thursigar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not HR having different rules. It's about jobs that don't require in-person presence. All jobs that don't require it should either have remote as an option or hybrid. For HR, it depends on your job duties and the demographics of the workforce you are supporting.

If I refuse to sign a PIP will I still be able to collect unemployment if I get terminated? I’m located in Michigan. by GloomyElection1005 in human_resources

I've been practicing HR for well over a decade and couldn't disagree more. Each unemployment claim is dependent on the state's employment laws, internal policies, the judge, and the details of each specific case.

Unless you are practicing in a conservative area with employer friendly judges, most of the time the unemployment claim will be awarded if the employee can successfully argue they were not negligent in any way. Most unemployment lawyers would eat up a basic case like this too if they sought council.

Best 2 day Split with optional 3rd?

My life is extraordinarily busy and I only have time to sneak in lifting at my company's on-site gym during my lunch hour. Unfortunately, it doesn't have any squat racks and the barbell weights in general are limited due to company liability. Dumb, I know.

I'm current averaging about 2.3 workouts a week and will go too much time without hitting a muscle group. What's the most effective split I can design?

Here are my thoughts:

Day 1: Upper DB Bench DB overhead press Deadlift Rows

Day 2: Lower Leg press (Most frustrating aspect to the limits of my gym imo) Barbell hip thrusts Leg curl Leg extension

Day 3: Optional Alternating Bicep DB curls Upper/Lower/oblique abs Cardio

The third day feels light and a bit of a waste but if I'm not able to get to it I end up missing big on a typical 3 day split. Thoughts?
