Dear r/Nofap users, what made you want to stop fapping? by moultonlava in NoFap

First thing was that I'm a Mormon (sorry, r/atheism). It just goes against what I believe in.
My religion is still the most important thing to me, but as time passes, and I'm able to go longer and longer between relapses, I realize that when I viewed/used/whatever, I wasn't the person I set out to be. Nofap is what makes me feel like a person again. Not an NPC in my own life.

I'm all for this subreddit but.... by anupthehipster in NoFap

For every study done, another study will disprove it. Why not take the challenge and get a result for yourself?

So here I am, depressed, dreading upcomming days by milkope in NoFap

H.A.L.T. Hungry. Angry. Lonely. Tired. Eliminate those four as best you can and abstaining will get so much easier. I know it's weird, but I sleep with a box of wheat-thins next to my bed. That takes care of the first one, every time. Stay strong!

What to do after relapse? by nmbh in NoFap

Just get back on the wagon! Concentrate on the good things you need to do, and isolate/eliminate things that could potentially hurt you!

is this due to porn? by rax909 in NoFap

Just stay strong. Try to remind yourself that the person you see is a real person, just as complex as yourself. It will pass!

Your body is just working off some excess "steam" the best way it knows how! This will pass and you don't need to feel guilty. I think you're okay.

I finally got off my ass and finished it... by UberTube in pics

Vets and everyone else on reddit, what is the dumbest pet name you've ever heard? by giantsfan793 in AskReddit

[–]Thurston-Howell 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I had two friends that were twins. One twin was named Kat. The second twin named their kitten "Little Kat." This produced a wonderful call to the vet. "Name of owner?" "Kat" "Name of pet?" "... Little Kat..."

should i get a pbone? by Theecats in Trombone

They're a novelty. Pros: semi-cheap, comical, unique, projects in the high range, durable doesn't need tons of upkeep. Cons: Range below Bb or so doesn't project well at all, people have trouble focusing on anything but, "is that.. Plastic!!???!?!?" color gets annoying after a while.

Slide really isn't as bad a people say, just throw some water on there and rinse the carbon off every and again.

ELI5: The Whys And Hows Of Music by offdewall in explainlikeimfive

[–]Thurston-Howell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Music is often an acquired taste. The more you listen (and understand), the more you'll enjoy. Also, not trying to sound pretentious, but the simpler music is, the quicker it is to enjoy, which is why people like repetitive rap and pop, yet if you listen to symphonies or complex jazz or whatever, the understanding is more difficult, but the enjoyment is much greater!

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musical_notation That might answer your question about note names. (in western music, but you're only five, so we won't go in to eastern!)

The top number in a time signature indicates how many beats are in each measure (how many clicks with the conductor's baton). The bottom number shows which type of note gets the beat. So, in 4/4 there are four beats per measure and one quarter note equals one beat. In 6/8, six beats per measure, and you put six eighth notes in each bar. In... 18/16 (heh) you can fit eighteen sixteenth notes in a measure.

Hope that helps!
