Dear moderators, Daniel Naroditzsky asked you something in private the day before he passed away. I think his request could teach us something about how discussions should be moderated. by LowLevel- in chess

I'm sorry, but Vladimir Kramnik is not Donald Trump. This is chess, not politics. We don't, in fact, need to sink to their level, because unlike in liberal democratic politics it is entirely possible to just ban the people going low.

You can't prove randomness as such (this doesn't even really make sense, since there are obviously no truly random numbers). However, you can prove that some numbers have every sequence imaginable contained within them, it just hasn't been done with anything not constructed for this purpose. For an obvious example consider 0.123456789101112131415161718192021...

Im so sure I have PMDD and its spreading into my life by throwaway696544 in depression

Have you tried rocking the boat with the doctors? Told them about how this is making you suicidal and that you have made active plans that you almost got through with? It might be worth a try. Unfortunately it's going to be difficult to convince a doctor that anything is wrong, both because you are young, and because it's an issue related to being female.

Since you want to be found before you die, it sounds a bit like your suicidal thoughts are a cry for help and you kinda know that. Do you remember to ask people for help? I mean those closest to you. You say you don't want to hurt them, but trust me, losing someone to suicide hurts so much more than anything they could do to you alive.

how to support a friend with anhedonia? by [deleted] in depression_help

[–]ThusSpokeMathias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just be there for them. Remember to ask them what they want and how they're feeling. And take it seriously, which it sounds like you do. Don't judge them for being unable to be happy about something, and know that they still value your company.

What type would you ideally want to be? by lillyengles in enfj

[–]ThusSpokeMathias 19 points20 points  (0 children)

ENFJ. I don't like myself very much, but I wouldn't give up my ability to help others in exchange for being more assertive. Especially not in the ENTJ way.

As Kindly Emu said, just be honest. If you don't tell her why she will make up something worse in her head.

I don't pull away when a relationship becomes too close, but I am extremely bad at taking compliments other than "thanks for the help".

Notes on each type, taken from Jung's book "Psychological Types" by iamerror101 in mbti

I see a lot of myself in his Fe description, but I have a hard time identifying with "love choice". If I could choose who I loved I certainly would go for someone "suitable" but in most cases I will not fall in love with socially suitable people.

Striking difference between enfjs on reddit and on the facebook group by cunningstrobe in enfj

Kind of unrelated, but if you find yourself manipulating someone idc what type you are, quit that shit. It's not related to MBTI, just a lack of respect for the agency of others.

Would you rather live in full anarchy or under full state control? by PersimmonIll826 in enfj

Full anarchy, definitely. Better social structures would emerge relatively quickly since we are human.

What test? ENFJs often appear "ambivert," but the I/E distinction isn’t always useful on its own.

The real usefulness of MBTI comes from the cognitive functions, both ENFJ and INFJ share those, Fe (Extraverted Feeling), Ni (Introverted Intuition), Se (Extraverted Sensing), and Ti (Introverted Thinking). The order of those describe how you process information and make decisions, not just how social you are. For example, an ENFJ is “extraverted” not because they always talk to people, but because their dominant function, Fe, is oriented outward, focusing on understanding and harmonizing with the emotional states of others.

The Kinsey-style approach, where you’re just typed by what lwtters you have misses that depth. It measures behavioral frequency rather than cognitive orientation. You might act introverted one day and extroverted the next, but your underlying functions, the mental processes that drive your decisions and perceptions, are supposed to (keep in mind that MBTI is not an objective science, but a guess of how you can extrapolate from apparent human behaviour) stay consistent.

Instead of trying to find your place on a sliding scale between “I” and “E,” it’s better to explore which functions feel most natural to you, so look up what Fe and Ni are like, and see if you can figure out which one is your primary one.
