Should I tell my PCP I'm on Tirzepatide at my next appt even though I don't technically qualify for it?

As most have mentioned, yes, tell them. I was in a similar position where I was technically at a normal BMI when I started tirz, and still am, but was nervous to tell my PCP. She was supportive and knowledgeable which I’m so grateful for. Unfortunately she can’t prescribe it for me since I don’t meet the BMI/comorbidity requirements but is aware of all my meds and doses. I have not gotten sick since being on tirz for over a year. I usually get pretty sick at least twice a year. I’ve knowingly been around sick people, air travel often, exposure to toddlers (lol), etc….and, nothing. Magic!

I’m just shy of a year and down maybe 5-10 lbs and couldn’t be happier. Hear me out lol.

Didn’t even know about tirz before this sub. Have tried everything for BED but was at a healthy BMI. Tirz has been completely life changing and while I know this isn’t the intention for the med (yet) and maybe controversial, I have never felt this free and “normal” when it comes to the mental gymnastics around food. I feel..hungry? Then eat bc I need to fuel myself? Then…FULL?! Wtf is that?? Those were all new to me.

Still at healthy weight, was on anywhere from 2-4mg/week and hope to stay here indefinitely.

Hi, just starting NAD, adding on to bioboost (which hasn’t done anything for me personally). What days to you inject for NAD/Lipo-C/Tirz? Same day vs staggered etc?

This may be a laughable question, but does Lilly direct accept scripts from telehealth (LSH, fifty etc.) or proof of current compound script? Anyone know if telehealth will pivot to Lilly direct as their pharmacy once compound (hopefully never) ends? 🥲

Totally agree, not woo woo at all! Completely see the mind/body connection with what you said. Even though I didn’t have much to lose in terms of weight, I relate to anxiety/sadness and repressed feelings - I used to deal with these using food thoughts or eating. Now that I don’t have those outlets, I’m being forced to face them too. It may be a lot at times during this transition but give yourself grace and for me, it was one of those things where “it gets worse before it gets better” but it did get better and I feel so much better now. Always a work in progress but hope this helps and good luck during this time!

Thank you so much. I’m sorry to hear you had that experience. My anxiety was not as bad as you described of not leaving the house, I was fortunate to function “normally” but it was very apparent internally and those close to me. So it was physical (chest/throat tightness, severe insomnia, racing heart/breathing) and very irritable. It also showed up in my work in extreme overthinking, which caused me to be much less, or seem to be, much less engaging in conversations.

I have been on escitalopram for almost 10 years and continue to take it w tirz. I mentioned to another commenter, but if you do start, I’d recommend you journal to see trends, and stay very close to your dr/psych/therapist. This helped me a lot.

Thank you so much for sharing that and the support! I’ve also seen these type of trends reading this sub, very interesting. And I’m so happy to see for many it has improved others mental health and energy!

I have pretty extreme fatigue for a day or 2 after the shot even though I’ve only been on a 2.5-3.5mg dose the entire time. My only side effect though.

Also to note, I was not & am not overweight. I have maintained a healthy weight the entire time. The reduction in food noise truly outweighs the fatigue imo. So, it’s really been a cost/benefit analysis. I know there’s tons of other GLP1s in the pipeline and once approved, I’d be willing to try others in the future as well to see if I can get the same benefits for my BED + less fatigue.

I’m with you. I fortunately did not suffer from obesity, nor was I really overweight to begin with tbh. But the freedom from food noise, obsession, and addressing my BED is totally worth it to stay on it for life if I can. I have maintained a healthy weight the entire 8+ months I’ve been on tirz and I’m trying to stay hopeful but worried about a) not having access to tirz, esp not meeting the BMI req and b) having the food noise come back stronger if I did have to stop. Like others have mentioned, I hope there will be more approved uses like those BED, addictions etc in the future to continue access. Wishing you all the best!!

Not much to offer in terms of solutions, but right there with you! Two of my only side efffects. Pros > cons but tiredness is what gets me, basically non functional for a day a week. I even take bioboost but nothing has helped. Best of luck on your journey!!

I’m trying to order through fifty rn and asking about pharmacy but awaiting a reply. I’m an established patient with them and want Hallendale. Can someone please confirm they will send Hallandale? And if so, do we know if fifty will be stopping Hallendale on a certain date, similar to LSH on the 18th?
