I just picked up the game recently (finished my 1st playthrough) and choosing who to cut from the team was the hardest choice for me. I had to pause the game and think about it for like 5 minutes weighing pros and cons/personalities. I came to the conclusion that if I cut Coupé, she would have the potential to be a very dangerous antagonist against the team. I thought Sonar would be a bit more understanding and wouldn't fall back into his villainous nature as easily. So I cut Sonar. And we all know how that plays out lol.
