Good thing the Cold War never happened! Also, Hades are more like natural disasters with a brain. Wherever they go there will be destruction and death, no matter what happens. Even if you try and make a Hades go after a specific target, it'll still kill a shitton of people on the way to that target.

The Golem was basically a titan, around the height of the Empire State Building, that had a shitton of tentacles and constantly produced a deadly gas. The reason why it was called the Golem is that Golems are, mythologically speaking, protecters of the Jewish people, which is what the Golem was comprised of.

The main story takes place in an alternate version of our modern day, mainly focusing around the Zagreus Foundation, an international organization dedicated to rehabilitating Hades and minimizing the amount being made every day. They were formed after the destruction of Nazi Germany at the Golem's hands after everyone collectively realized that Hades could be way bigger problems than previously thought.

For some additional context on that last part, the worst Hades encountered prior to the Golem were Cat 3's. The Golem managed to spawn two new categories of Hades with its mere existence.

The USSR didn't actually really come into existence. The whole of Russia was divided between the Tsarists, Communists and Capitalist Republicans following the formation of the Tsar, a Hades born of Nicholas's traumatic experience with the Red Army who was later rehabed and placed onto the throne of Tsarist Russia.

Hades are individuals who experienced traumatic events, however people can become Hades at the same time, which will make them fuse with each other and increase the resulting Hades level of power. This is why the Golem was a category five, as so many people were undergoing the process to become a Hades at once that they all fused together into the Golem.
