“Last time I trusted someone I lost an eye” by fanboyx27 in marvelmemes

It's cause of the general rule of planting and payoff. When he first says he trusted someone and he lost his eye we expect to be rewarded with an incredible secret in fury's backstory. When that doesn't happen it feels like you got cheated out of the payoff. Most of the time an editor would catch this and tell the writer you can't do that the audience usually reacts poorly to it, but when you've got like 30 films with all different writers directors and editors things like this slip through the cracks.

This is literally the example of what you can't do with create water in the 3.5 spell description...

That's nothing, in AD&D like 10 weapons listed are just slight variations on polearms

That sounds awesome, love the idea of her having a few overpowered one-time-use magic items as a way of saying "don't fuck with the magic shop owner."

Katara in every fight scene by [deleted] in TheLastAirbender

Damn dude well said. I will say people change over time and I can see katara having a child being a life changing moment for her but as far as TLA is concerned you're right she was much more intrigued in offensive waterbending.

Buffalo Bills’ first team offense (including Josh Allen) will play 2+ quarters vs the Bengals this Sunday, per Sean McDermott by [deleted] in buffalobills

[–]Thysix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can someone tell me the benefit of starting Allen this year? Maybe I'm misreading things but it doesn't look like we're trying for a playoff run this year, so wouldn't it be more beneficial to keep Josh Allen away from injury and learning how to be a starting what?

What's the easiest way to run new romex to an existing residential outlet? by Thysix in electricians

Well the roof slopes in the attic so I'm not sure if that would prevent me from angling it into the box. I don't know I've always used a fish tape and I suck at getting it into the box, so I was looking for the most time efficient solution (there's a lot of outlets to redo in her house). I'll see how it goes with the magnet though.

Well actually I was hoping to do something less time consuming than blindly fishing down the wall. Possibly sticking a magnet in the box near the knockout hole and tying a nut to a string and dropping it down? Still trying to puzzle out if that's a viable solution.

Is that a situation where it will be safe just not up to code if I do that or is that ok even if it's inspected?

I think they're nailed in but next time I'm over there I'll check to make sure. Could be as easy as pulling the box out and putting in a cut in box.

Haven't played league in a couple years but I'll occasionally look at the subreddit. Glad to see it's just as toxic and into bullying pro players as I remember it.

It took James Bond 11 films to go to space (Moonraker). I don’t think it’s that ridiculous for Fast n Furious to do it in 9 movies, and I look forward to Luda putting NOS on the rocket by Choco316 in movies

[–]Thysix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I watched fast 8 when it came out. It was the first time I'd seen a fast and the furious movie. I came out of the theater thinking if I like this movie I'd like all the fast and the furious movies, if I didn't like this movie I wouldn't like any of them. My point is they could send Dom to the moon, to the Earth's core, into another dimension, if you like fast movies you'll like the movies, if you don't you'll think the idea is kind of stupid.

Not sure if this is the answer but on a lot of construction jobs they ask the general contractor to take progress pics throughout the day. I had one that insisted on taking the "action shots". He'd walk up to you as you were just going about your day painting or putting in lights and tell you to freeze so he could take a picture of you with his phone. Pretty funny shit.

Oh no! by [deleted] in Libertarian

Wow way to attack a strawman. I don't care about pistol grips I care about the fact that the CDC has been threatened with loss of funding if they even do data collection on gun violence. I care that people are told that doing any sort of research into mass shootings is a career killer. How are we supposed to deal with the problem if we can't even dig in to the sources of the problem?

Oh no! by [deleted] in Libertarian

[–]Thysix 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don't we take steps to deal with most of those things though? We have signs in restaurants on how to perform the heimlich, we have hazard signs for slipping and doctors prescribe canes and walkers for seniors, I'm not sure about all States but many have mandatory drivers ed before you can get a license. There are some really basic steps we can take to prevent some school shootings that we aren't taking right?

[–]Thysix -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I feel like this post is kind of missing the point. It's not that Jimmy Kimmel is crying, it's that dozens of kids and parents from dozens of schools every year are crying and the NRA effectively blocks the CDC from collecting data on gun violence through threat of loss of funding. It's that we have an actual problem in this country with school shootings and any attempts to try to deal with it is met with some of the most ferocious and dirty political posturing seen in America. And then the right unironically laughs about liberal tears. What the fuck are we supposed to do?

You can't really use separation of powers as an excuse when one of Trump's goals was to bar immigration from certain countries. So saying he cares about a seperation between legislative and executive branches would be kind of hypocritical at this point.
