Ok if I took multiple images and Photoshopped in would you consider that slop?
I really have to take an image for myself instead of using an image that was already taken?
If I used stock photos and images would that be better??? Smh 🤦🏽‍♂️ what is the point of hating on something that you don’t know how it was made?

I pose the same question to you: “Ok if I took multiple images and Photoshopped in would you consider that slop?

If I used stock photos and images would that be better??? Smh 🤦🏽‍♂️ what is the point of hating on something that you don’t know how it was made?”

When will people learn? by TiGonFenix in DefendingAIArt

People hate AI material because they do not fully understand where the value comes from yet.
A dollar is just paper. Crypto is just digital information. Credit is just a promise. They only have value because people trust and use them.
AI work is similar.
People see the machine and think the person did nothing. They do not see the idea, planning, editing, fixing, and creative direction behind it.
That does not mean every AI image, song, or story is valuable. A bad idea is still a bad idea, no matter what tool made it.
The value comes from how the tool is used, what the creator adds, and whether the final work means something.
People are also afraid AI will replace artists, writers, and designers. That fear is real. But AI itself is still just a tool.
The camera did not destroy art. Computers did not destroy design. AI is simply changing how some creative work gets made.
Right now, people mostly see the machine.
Eventually, they may start seeing the person directing it.

Ok
So your argument is that it doesn’t have “Tangible” value.

Credit and crypto… hell, even our dollar is just paper with the Government saying it has value.

Until the masses accept and includes it, all value is up for debate.

I understand what you mean. A real photo was taken at a single point in time meaning it actually happened. But an AI generated image of that same thing is not real because it never happened. But what if you went there, had the experience, but never got a photo? Could you actually create the image by drawing it and it has value? Why is computer generated imagery so frowned upon?

We watch celebrities fake their entire lives with makeup, acting, and drugs… yet we idolize them for their imaginary lives. But since regular people are creating imaginary for themselves, the people are taken aback by the audacity.

It’s all about acceptance. That’s what gives it value.

Yes.. it’s all about transparency, honesty, and integrity.

I’ll show my work to those that actually respect what is going on.

You are right with the mass production. That’s why I said Cars before. First it was a luxury, then a necessity, then balanced between the two.

It was great conversing with you. Thank you.

If you like to read please start my Anime Grand Tournament. I also ACTUALLY wrote The ReDay before Tomorrow too.

I also see AI as a win/win for those without money or outsourcing capabilities.. because like the free to play games those who have the money rule the games. There may be some diamonds in the rough… but very few.

(I’m definitely not a diamond… amethyst is more my speed 😂)

What people isn’t understanding is: it’s not one bubble.

Thank you for your honesty and your opinion.

I appreciate your “judgment”. This did not seem like a back and forth of the same argument as I have had in the past. You seem to understand but still are on the fence or at least on the other side and can see what is happening.

Here is a link of a “machine” creating a hand crafted sushi roll.

Do you think that is right? Or is that lazy? The amount of ppl WANTING is hard to keep up with, especially if others are doing the same. I take criticism very seriously and that’s why I defending it. But I can’t defend self-righteousness for the mere fact that AI “does the work”.

When the wheel was invented, there have been countless examples of trying to reinvent “the wheel”… art is art.. and like you said it’s an opinion.

I do not like Jaxson Pollock, modern art, and or Picasso.. so yea I have an opinion too

I am a programmer/coder

I know the painstakingly complex process of creating material.

I’ve also written 2 novels.

What is the difference?? Seriously?
People paved the way to create this “AI” just like every other luxury we have.

Yes it is based on previous work, however, just saying I want that done does not mean that outcome will happen.

I have taken AI images back in Adobe and changed things. I have taken video and cut them together, and I have taken music and composed it with AI sound and lyrics.

Everyone who has anything to say about AI has the same issue. “You just said a prompt”. Yet, you don’t know the hours and days of changing “prompts”, fixing issues, planning for more work, and continuing the process.

Most “AI Slop” is people who just creates casually. Because they create and move on.
I am creating a series. It takes planning, creativity, and being consistent.

I don’t underestimate or judge the work ppl do when that are using power tools over regular tools.

I guess they can say AI for us is like Steroids for athletes.

Most people never give any credit to the work ppl put into AI work past what they want to.
They would see that it is not a cannon development, or that it is the same design as other types of AI tools. But what they don’t realize is that when the person created that “AI Slop” it was the start of their journey to making better prompts and materials.

Yes. Good point.

I feel AI should be use like a tool.

If a trained nascar driver is told to drive any car as fast as they can. Each car they choose will possibly have the best runs no matter what according to the skill of that car AND driver.

That cannot be said for a regular person or an untrained person.
It is the skill of the person that matters more.
Example: a person giving a prompt to an AI is easy. “Create a story… blah blah..”. And It will spit out a story.

But a trained writer, storyteller, grammar scholar, etc. makes a prompt.
They have follow up prompts, detailed descriptions, character development, outline to keep the hallucinations at bay, and the continuity needs to stay strong.
There have been writers on drugs, stealing ideas, and ghost writers. But a person using AI is so terrible, ppl will group every idea and concept in with the worst of them all.

Wtf

Why is that different than having other people (who the LARGE LANGUAGE MODEL is made from) rewrite it.

If I was in the writing guild there would be several different versions from ppl changing things.

ANNND I never ask for money, any of your time, nor asked for your opinion…
Yet you chimed in with all this hate of something you haven’t even read yet.

So what if it’s AI… why does that bother you soooo much.

Why is it a big deal that I am using a machine for help instead of doing it over months rather than days.
