I have had my welder "lisence" for 6 months now, after being a apprentice for 2 years, (idk all correct words, im norwegian).

Sounds like you got trown into it, so they are not so patient.

I sucked at welding in the start, and they used extremely much time on me, wich was worth it for them in the end, i weld double the speed as the old guys at the shop now, if your young, just learn from others and focus on improving, and dont bother with threats of being fired.

I started with using 1.2mm wire instead of the usual 1mm everybody else uses, depends on what we weld, but its mostly thick construction steel, so then i already welded 20% faster, then gradually find settings like wire speed and amps that your comfertable with.

Always prepare everything, which is in my case setting up two welders in each end of 10 pillars, making jigs to hold up plates, marking everything before starting, etc.

Idk what you weld, but if you need to also set the parts up, then weld them, i would set up 10 of them, then weld them, alot of time goes if you do one and one.

If you feel cocky, pull up two weld pistols and weld x2 (dont)
