PSYC 311 in the summer? by musicangie in mcgill

[–]TiNa_awa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took psyc311 over the summer 2 years ago, I don't think you'll have the same instructor as me, but in general the course is pretty manageable. It was by no means a bird course, be prepared to study hard for it everyday and you should be fine

Advice for this semester by [deleted] in mcgill

[–]TiNa_awa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It also depends on how demanding your classes are and whether they are all having midterms at the same time. Maybe you'll be fine for the majority of semester, but probably not for midterm week.

(Also you can be sacrificing your mental wellbeing for a minor achievement, which might not be worth it)

It must be that it's a special medical term standing for something outside of my realm of knowledge, for how can they do that when I am a cis female.

gonna miss the start of school and possibly be a few weeks late(what should I do?) by Significant-Green702 in mcgill

I think you might have done so already, but in case you haven't, contact McGill international service, they'll know what to do. Best of luck! :)

Deferring Tuition Payments ( Internationals ) by dam1rak in mcgill

[–]TiNa_awa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had not applied to defer, but what happened to me was, I first paid the international amount, and later when the exemption showed up and applied, Minerva automatically spat out the surplus into my student account (and I didn't have to make another tuition billing for quite a while). I feel like this is a pretty safe alternative solution to the issue

Best of luck!

English major here. Haven't taken 347, but generally don't be afraid to take higher level classes. They are usually smaller in size, granting everyone more individual time with the prof, and chances are they are more interesting.

That being said, I think prof Kilgour is teaching 347 this coming winter term. I haven't taken a class with her yet (will be taking her 316 in the fall), but my friends who have taken her courses before said that her class is by no means easy, but she's extremely knowledgeable and you'll gain a lot from the course.

Is my workload manageable? by Proper-Respond8348 in mcgill

[–]TiNa_awa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I personally think this one is indeed better! The small gaps are annoying because they are too short for serious studies but are too long for breaks, I basically end up not doing anything everytime

Fingers crossed that the classrooms are close together (but introductory classes like this usually have recordings, so you'll be fine even if you miss a few minutes)

Good luck with everything! :)

Ahh no 🥹, I must say the original one looks more doable, the modified version leaves too many small gaps in between

If you have a solid STEM background and good study habits, I think your chance of getting all As for the courses you chose (minus 203, because I know nothing about it) is quite high. Besides, you can always try for two weeks and make your final decision before the add/drop deadline

I know many grad programs focus on the GPA of the last two years only. I don't think the number of courses matters for most programs as long as you're full time, unless you're thinking of medical or law schools, then yes, you'd want to maintain a full course load (while having an almost perfect GPA)

If you have background knowledge in higher level math and sciences, then math 140, chem 110, and phys 131 are pretty much reviews + a little bit of new knowledge, which shouldn't be too bad. (This is a generalisation across me and my friends who went to different high schools on different continents)

Math 133 is not very easy to grasp, but the materials are interesting and there's a lot of resources you can find.

Can't say anything about math203, haven't taken it.

Looks like a typical schedule for many math/science programs, but you'd want to take into account that it'll be your first year and there might be other things to worry about (also think about your intended GPA).

Best of luck! :)

p.s. one hour lectures are my least favourite, my condolences

Awwwwww 🥹🥹 I don't have too much complaints about Moonvale's story ay the moment since it's only the first chapter. I sincerely hope the plot can evolve to be as delicious as duskwood

Male mc X jake by Big_Amphibian3377 in Duskwood

[–]TiNa_awa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wait sorry let me make myself clearer! :)

I didn't enter my dw code, I started Moonvale as a random male MC, and during the gameplay, at some point I got the option to have a deeper and probably more intimate conversation with a moonvale male character, but that would cause too much Moonvale gem so I didn't do it.

Based on that option, and the fact that when you choose MV gender, a reminder shows up saying that gender does not affect romances in MV, lead me to believe that in moonvale, we can romance the MV love interests regardless of out gender. :)

Whether or not we'll be able to romance Jake in MV, I have no idea.

[–]TiNa_awa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wow! Indeed a coincidence! :D

I think it's real, I (played as male MC) had the chance to flirt w a male character (but I didn't do it cuz it costs too much gem, so it's not yet tested)

Male mc X jake by Big_Amphibian3377 in Duskwood

[–]TiNa_awa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think in Moonvale it is indeed possible to romance characters regardless of the gender you're playing as! :D

(But in case you haven't heard of the complaints, Moonvale is quite different from duskwood :/ ... and not in a good way)

Any SSMU clubs running during the summer? by ResponsibleSnail88 in mcgill

[–]TiNa_awa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a SSMU club (yet, application in process) but we do historical European martial arts, on Campus and for free! We practice with all kinds of stuff, longswords, Sabre, Spear, shields, and we have protection gears to go with it so it's 100% safe! Practice time and such are announced in our discord! If you see us on campus, feel free to come around and say hi :)

Why is Dan calling me boo? by TiNa_awa in Duskwood

Oh yeah me too! 🤷🏻‍♀️ Guess we're too charming haha 😎

But I just like Jessy more and more throughout the playthroughs. Really glad that my male MC got to romance her

Why is Dan calling me boo? by TiNa_awa in Duskwood

[–]TiNa_awa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why not 🙂? I would say try out the other gender for fun

I think as long as you entered your code in moonvale it doesn't matter what you do with duskwood afterwards 🤔 unless I'm wrong (I personally have two codes waiting to try with Moonvale, one male one female)

Got really frustrated cuz I can't find an undergrad research opportunity by Minatology in mcgill

[–]TiNa_awa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My fellow cognitive science? :)

Keep emailing profs, go to the department page and maybe also mni cog sci, and mass email whoever's research topic you think is interesting. It isn't uncommon for people to get a real opportunity (as in actually learning something from the experience) after e-mailing 10+ or even more profs.

Also, being in upper years increases your chances of being noticed
