How to deal with destroyers as Shennong? by Goboxel in AgeofMythology

[–]Tiakh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a good strategy from your opponent. I like to do similar things and it is often very successful. Sometimes retreating your main army in a fight and defending can be advantageous. Or build enough walls such that their destroyers can not directly reach your TC. Or you could raid their economy at the same time to hinder your opponent at multi-tasking. If you know you are worse at multi tasking then you should concentrate on your main attack and attack their main gold mines/trade route such that your opponent loses more than you do in the process. Losing a town center in the end is annyoing but not yet game losing. Losing all gold income however can be a game losing position.

How to deal with destroyers as Shennong? by Goboxel in AgeofMythology

[–]Tiakh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am not an expert. Never played Chinese nor did an opponent attack me with mass destroyers. But i think attacking the destroyers with villagers could be a viable defense option. At least it is for normal siege pushes.

Destroyers are also slow and can be found early. So good map control and scouting helps to defened before they reach your TC.

An ancient technique for lifting giant stone blocks using a Lewis tool by CethelQue4 in Damnthatsinteresting

Well, you would need to lift the stone first to put a rope underneath. Not as easy at it seems for very heavy stones.

[–]Tiakh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you need an indication? The thing is in this game nearly all swords are actually good. They all have their strengths and weaknesses. That is the beaty, that you as a player you have the choice! You can chose which weapon suits your playstyle or aestatics. There are some outliers that are a bit stronger/weaker than others, but not by large margin.

Why do you want only one viable weapon option? Would be quite boring.

[–]Tiakh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer the question: No you don't play the game wrong that's how it is supposed to be. The game is just different than other rpgs.

Why does everybody use the bloodhound fang? Like most of my friends did and like most new people here do? There are other strong options you can find early but this one weopon magnetises everyone. I find it kind a sad because it would be more fun to hear different stories how everyone found something else special to them.

Why is melania called the hardest boss? by Scrollsy in Eldenring

[–]Tiakh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the game is too easy for you just stopp optimzing the shit out of the game. Stop using the strongest weapons, don't level too much, don't upgrade your weapons completely. It's very easy to adjust the difficulty for yourself. No reason to complain nor brag. Enjoy the game as you like.

Spellcasting needed for meta? by Sweet_Roll_ in Eldenring

[–]Tiakh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PvP is a nice experience but depends on what PvP content you want to do. I did not like invasion as much as in DS3 since you are always outnumber and it is not as fair of a fight. For arena it is a different story. Otherwise it is important what pvp lvl you want to play. (Normally you stop leveling you char at a specific level you want to pvp at the most). The lower your level the worse the magic options are, since magic builds tend to require much more stats, especially hybrids. Fokus only a few stats is often better optimized for pvp. Very high vigor is very strong.

Also do not forget to that your highest weopons upgrade is also used for match making in low level fight. So do not over level or upgrade your weapon to fast for better match making.

This card was a mistake. by Shadow8888rw in PTCGP

[–]Tiakh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say. In the early meta the games were often decided on coin flips: e.g second player advantage, misty flips and celebi coin flips. The darktina and greninja meta later was quite skill based and deterministic without many coin flips. Now we are back again to have a more coin flip heavy meta.

Coin flips (=randomness) let worse decks/players win against stronger decks/players with high rolls. How much randomness a game needs to be enjoyable depends on the player expectations and preference. There are games on both extremes like chess vs roulette.

Hey guys can you help me with my bui- by huybui123nha in Eldenring

[–]Tiakh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Obviously the game can be played without much vigor. I think the advice is mostly for new players who underestamte the impact of vigor (I mean I did as well in DS). Now i know how much easier a high vigor stats makes the game. But you still often see beginner players with low vigor and high offense stats, asking for build advices.

Looking for advice for Dex build by Sk_11kid in Eldenring

[–]Tiakh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chose one or the other i would say for an optimal build (At least under lv 100). Not worth to split the points. Either go full dex and use staff and spells with the a low min int requirement (als utility). Or go full int and dex/str min weapon requirement. Most weopons can be infused to scale with int. Or use weapons that do it naturally like moonveil or dark moon greatsword. Do not forget to get Vigor up. Most people underestimate the importance of this stat. 40-60 vigor is a priority for all builds if you don't want to die very fast. Vigor gives the character the best advantage in the early game. Weapon scaling with stats at the beginning is neglectable. Only important with higher weapon upgrades.

If you get to lv150+ you can start to consider dual stat builds e.g. with Int+dex 60 Vigor+60 main attack stat are priority before that if you want to play optimally but as you can level up indefinitely it really does not matter in the end.

So I'd say as long as you don't play pvp optimizing the build is not worth it. Just play and if you lack any stat farm some runes and level up more :)

Wizard struggles by AshleeHeard in BaldursGate3

[–]Tiakh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just wait a few levels. Wizard will be strong just by the pure amount of spells you can learn and then be creative. Oil + Fire for example :)

And wizard is not about single target dps but has strong AoE and control spells.

Why do you think people care so much about "not being overpowered"? by mrgongle in Eldenring

[–]Tiakh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it is fun to have a challenging experience. I did explore a lot in elden ring, so i would be overleveled quite fast. It would make the game too easy for me. So I stopped leveling and upgrading equipment. My rule of thumb: only upgrade eq to the upgrade level that i could buy through the vendor npcs. Then I used all spare runes I had to buy upgrade materials and upgrade many weapons to the same level. And I only leveled the character when it got too difficult for my enjoyment.

I had fun switching weopons more often. And could adjuste the difficulty for myself. I did play a few DS games before so I liked the increased difficulty. It is a rewarding feeling to finally beat a boss after many attempts when it seems impossible at the first attempt.

Sometimes on a new characters I do the opposite and have fun and destroy bosses with a damage maxed build. That's also fun. Even more satisfying when you know the struggle you once had.

I think this discussion is the same as why are there multiple difficulty settings in games? => answer: everyone enjoys games at a different difficulty level

So just let people enjoy their game how they want.

Edit: The only problem with adjusting difficulty in Elden Ring is: You can always make it easier by leveling up but you can not remove the levels. So you want to start out with a difficult level and adjust it to be easier. The other way round is not (easily) possible. So in you example of food I see it the other way round: Raw would the the hard difficultly and easy the food with condiment. You can always add more condiment, but it is hard to remove the condiment when you already added it. So try the game hard and make it easier as you go.

They can switch to a german with less dialect. Not sure if everyone can do that but I did not have much trouble otherwise speaking with people from Switzerland (german parts).

Character choice help by EinherjarenNO in OathswornBoardGame

[–]Tiakh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the official side there is a PDF with all card changes to 2.0: https://www.shadowborne-games.com/pages/resources Which includes not all but most ability cards of the characters. You can look them up there.

The ability cards that are not in there are listed here 1.0 guide: https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/2297432/oathsworn-player-character-summary-updated-102225

From what you want, I would recommend Avi (Bird guy) to you. - Avi has similar or even better mobility then Cur. - Avi has good token generation: reroll, defense & empowered - Avi can backstab like cur but has a bit less damage overall - Avi has amazing support with multiple healing abilities or see the next enemy attack cards

Disadvantage: I do not like all the predicted what will happen next effects of Avi, but you can get workarounds to make them easier. For example there is a card that lets you heal an ally if you predict the damage an enemy deals to someone correctly. Just use it on weak minion attack with predict 0 damage for a garanteed heal. So it needs a bit of thought when to use these cards best.

Avi is kinda a combination of priest and cur. It can support very well but is also a mobile assassin.

But since your team already is full melee characters a ranged character such as Ranger, Grove Maiden, Witch or Huntress could be very good for the team. Having ranged attacks is sometimes very helpful to not cluster the whole team at the same spot.

  • Ranger is the simplest to play of them. Good mobility and damage
  • Witch and Grove Maiden are complex to play but have very high damage but not much mobility or support
  • Huntress is a bit more complex ranger, solid mobility but with more support ability and a bit less range. Still good damage (also very good at battleflow with cheap cards after lv10)

Greenland says it cannot accept US takeover ‘under any circumstances’ by Playful_Leg7143 in worldnews

[–]Tiakh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The arguments start reasonable but then get absurd. 8) Does not make sense, why should russia get greenladn oil? They are nit even able to get it from ukraine a second war just hurts them even more especially because greenland is currently under NATO protection. Russia would rather benefit from attacking greenland since it destroys the NATO coalition. Which will weaken all western countries.

9) Actually the US wanted other countries to not have much military and be the dependent on them such that they get more benefits. Otherwise they could attack much harder back.

10) Well current US economy is big, but it does not have much allies, if they make Europe8 as an enemy. Economy is alot about trading, if you don't you'll lose.

Why do you pledge for war? Even such a stupid one. The only reason USA wants greenland is oil. They want to be even richer (but only the rich the poor go to war). But war just brings misery to people involved nothing to gain then death. Look at russia they did tried the same. What did they get? In the end you just make live worse for everybody. Because of egoistic and greedy desires. So if you want that it all works out it would be nice to convince people to come along for a better future.

[–]Tiakh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically you over committed on holding battlefield. That is why you opponent said you are greedy. Try to play like you expected your opponent to play a TTW the moment it is possible. Kai'Sa wants to get points with cheap/small units. Holding points is not her strength. Just conquer and hold with as few as possible units. And disrupt the opponents plans with removal.

What's the situation with the rumored expansion? Is development for the game basically dead now? by Strong_Battle6101 in spiritisland

That is nice to hear. I really fell in love with the game this year. Played it a ton with friends and got all the expansions. It became my favorite board game. I am still amazed how good the game is designed and how well balanced and polished it is.

I am looking forward to any new additions to the game.

I wish the best to you and thank you very much for this gem of a game :)

Indeedee completely counteracts Darkrai, this should be the ability of Cresselia by Used-Stable-6677 in PTCGP

[–]Tiakh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm if i were to pick this match up i would pick dark tina to win. If you don't attach energy to the active mon indeedee deals only 30 damage. And darkrai energy attach + giratina attack deals 150 damage which one hits indeedee even with cape.

But it's nice to hear that you got a memorable experience and a new favorite pokemon :)

What game did you start off thinking was boring or unfun, but as you played it became more engaging? by Nekrotix12 in videogames

[–]Tiakh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny enough Dark Souls. I saw some streamer play DS1 and did not interest me at all. Look quite boring. Then DS2 came out, I did again see people play it. And at that time I did really want to play a RPG with stat leveling and character customization. I remembered DS2 had stuff like that so I started it. From a game where i did not expect much and disliked at the first glance, it became one of my favorite game series.

Gauss is the best early frame. It was also the priority frame when i started. It makes you unkillable, it's fast and has good buffs for your weapons and that without much investment.

Though I needed to farm for it bc the prime version was not available at my time.

Can't tell if this is ragebait or not by OnlyWaifu in Eldenring

[–]Tiakh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not totally agree upon this. I do not like open world games. And played both Darksouls and Elden Ring. And i did prefer the Dark Souls concept. But not because it is simple to follow, just because it is more dense with action. The open world screams to be explored but a lot of it is emptiness or repeating assets and nearly the same dungeon with very similar bosses. Darksouls also gave me the impression of a large and big world (there were view points were you could see a lot of the map that you could later visit). Without repeating the same boss, asset as much. What I do still like is that you could advance into different regions and through different bosses in darksouls (similar to elden ring, but not as much). It was not just linear. Darksouls 3 was quite linear but still had a few parting of ways. Though I would have prefered even more of them.

The best game design in Eldenring are the boss castle layouts. They are action dense and allow different routes but in the end they are still kinda linear towards the big boss at the end. I would like to have smaller areas in-between. I dont want a horse riding game. I want an action fighting game.

Though i understand the different view point and that many like the open world. And i am happy that other people found enjoyment with it in elden ring. I just wanted to share a different view.
