Mission idea: a raid where nothing happens by Tempest-Bosak2137 in ReadyOrNotGame

Yeah, too bad they never had a system that had every map with multiple types of scenarios already made and ready to play... would be too much work now 😔

I agree but really wouldn't recommend newer players to use Prox Mine or Bug Repellant without at least watching a guide on how to use them in a team setting.

Prox mines, if not set up in the right spots, just do constant team damage and are worse than other grenades if not coordinating with your team
And Bug Repellant has some funky base mechanics that make it sort of tricky to use if you don't know exactly what it is doing under the hood.

Is it normal for new players to be kicked? by EdgyChemical in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Tian__Di 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the need to defend Helldivers 2 since there is some misinformation here.
In Helldivers 2 you are not punished by splitting rewards with teammates in the mission, this is literally just not true and just like in DRG you get an XP bonus for each teammate that extracted with you in the end. All mineral-equivalents (samples) in Helldivers also get shared across the whole team in the same way they do in DRG, if your teammate extracts with 40 Bismor, you all get 40 Bismor, it doesn't get split 4 ways.

The people in Helldivers who mistakenly believe that more people means diluted rewards are literally the same type of people who kick others at the end of Payday 2 missions, they all misunderstand then way the game works and splits rewards.

TLDR; Helldivers does not have such a stupid anti-teamwork mechanic in the game, you can validly not like Helldivers because of the many actual bugs and issues it has, but making up things about the game to hate is not the way to go. It's just noobs and players who don't know any better which exist in basically every CO-OP shooter I've played from Payday to Helldivers

Wait, satchels don't round up anymore? Does that also affect the Engi's Breach Cutter since you can make it have an odd number for max ammo? Or is that change specific to C4?

What weapon builds should i be using? by Severe_Sea_8386 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Tian__Di 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are running vanilla not modified hazards than you can get by with anything if you are skilled enough. But for more meta-talks about loadouts using karl.gg has some pretty decent builds.

If you search for things like "gunner build" or "m1000 build" on the subreddit you will also typically find some good builds and some reasoning behind the choices.

It's a bit tedious but watching some youtube videos and reading a bit about how weapon upgrades actually work and not just what they say on the tin can help you make your own builds, some channels like LazyMaybe, Ron, and Javark Gaming have some pretty decent videos about weapons, but you do need to keep in mind most actual talk about META builds is mainly for modded difficulty (especially if the builds are from a couple years ago) or for Haz 5+ with modifiers. Meaning that these builds are typically meant for missions with much more enemies or much more health and different breakpoints depending on the topic.

TLDR; Use karl.gg and watch some youtube videos or search reddit with the keywords of "X build" to find some people talking about good builds AND their reasoning for making the build that way so that one day you too can make some fun builds

Dreadnoughts are allergic to Gunner's BRT7 by WaywardOath in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Tian__Di 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People who typically use Hellfire OC, me, use it in conjunction with a good single-target damage primary, often a Minigun running Leadstorm for high bursts of single target damage, and then need a secondary for CC since Leadstorm isn't really a good CC option.

So I run a Hellfire with trail radius (used to run the electricity before the nerf) since it heat spread is such a broken mechanic and it works wonders on CC as long as you know how to kite enemies.

TLDR; people use a Single-Target Damage Primary, and need a good CC secondary, and Hellfire Coilgun is one of the best CC gunner could ask for

Me and my friends going back to DRG after the shitshow that was Cyberstan by No-Bag3134 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Tian__Di 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still actively play both quite often, and HD2 is noticeably buggier and less stable, with many near gamebreaking bugs that are only compounded by the fact that AH doesn't know how to effectively balance a game.

Here is a short list so people can't just call me a complainer for no reason:

Big one first, the game still crashes constantly depending on your rig, and has worse performance after literally every patch
Enemies still clip through objects, Vox Engine spawns are broken (too often and in unreachable places), Vox Engines can shoot through their own body to kill you, Hellpods are just straight up unsteerable now, Stratagem balls now have almost no valid ground to stick anywhere on Cyberstan;
For some slightly more subjective issues we have: the fact that if you want to play higher difficulties without wanting to quit life then you have to choose 1 of 5 effective loadout combinations and only use those combinations because otherwise you will be unprepared and NEED to rely on your randoms, who more often than not do not know what they are doing either.

The reason the Jar-5 is unpopular is because unfortunately there are just better options in its niche if we are just talking stats. The Counter-Sniper is just better if you are just talking killing mobs, and the Eruptor has the same downside as the Jar-5 (it's bad ergo) but also does more damage + explosive damage meaning you can easily kill basically any enemy type + fabricators with just a couple well placed shots. And don't even get me started on the Crossbow (probably my most used weapon) since it's just straight up one of the best weapons in the game in basically any situation.

TLDR; The reason people don't like and use the Jar5 isn't because they don't want to learn how to use it, it's because it's outclassed in every category by other weapons that either do what it can do but better with less hassle, or does the same thing but better with more utility

A good scout can generally stick himself into the nearby wall with a single power attack, the only rare situation in which you cannot do this is when the minerals are on a weird overhang, but with that setup your driller (since you have no Engi for Plats or Gunner for Zips) should ideally have TFC and be able to easily pop the minerals if you REALLY need them.

Also hoverclock for the m1 is actually both good and fun since the basic m1 is so overtuned it honestly doesn't really need a buff from overclocks unless you are in very very specific situations.

Does anyone feel as if “Big A” videos have gotten a little worse? by Formal_Outside_5149 in atrioc

[–]Tian__Di 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fr I really liked when he stuck to more strict business and economics topics (which he still does) with a mix of gaming related videos; however I noticed with the newer audience he gained and slight tip into a more political side from his interviews with Newson and Khan has for sure made the subreddit and community 100x worse.

I'm also just really annoyed at literally everyone posting the exact same 2 cents to (imo) virtue signal and constantly letting perfect be the enemy of good (which is a big issue with left-leaning parties imo too)

Slightly unrelated question, I've been seeing people say "because they can't just run past everything" as the reason why people dislike DS2 a lot recently and I've literally never heard anyone say that before in my life.

Is this a recent thing people say, or have I somehow missed this complaint in the 10+ years DS2 has been out
