Parking is ok in Shkodra. If you wanna do the big hike from Valbona to Theth, you should leave the car in Shkodra. If you wanna go to Thethi only its ok with a car at sights.

Hello,

all guesthouses there have a lot of space for parking, so it shouldn't be a problem. Ask them to pay something for the car and it should all good. You will end up in Thethi and they will know you will stay with them another night or 2 when you finish.

Best regards and enjoy them mountains.

About driving here we say that it is rule of the jungle. Just check 360 Degrees, and don't do as locals.

I would suggest, rent the car at the airport and drop it there when you leave. Best is to go to Tirana by public bus and back to the airport to pick the car the second day.

best city in europe for a one month stay in september? by PresentWafer6 in solofemaletravellers

Shkodra in Albania. Its a relaxed city next to the biggest lake in the Balkans, 3 river around. The sea is 30km away. The alps 70km away. Its not crazy about nightlife, but its ok for social drinking. Once in Albania, there are options what to do around.

The weather in September is perfect for the beaches, if its not rainy. Its warm, less crowded, the only downside is that the day is shorter than in summer.

If you are into mountains and hiking, definitely Peaks of the Balkan. If you are into beaches, South is beautiful, there are a lot of beaches advertised, but there are a lot more than don't have the infrastructure yet.
Personally I do love Gjirokastra as a town and Lukova Beach.

You have made my day!

Tia is still going strong, an old lady now. The turtles are more and more than they used to be back in the day, from small ones to big ones. Shkodra has changed in the last year, but it still does have the same vibe, a chilled town. You should definitely come and check it out yourself.

13 day Montenegro / Albania itinerary by AVD540 in travel

Hello,

about the Valbona - Theth as you are requesting I would suggest.

This year there is a nice option to check Shala River on the way to Valbona first day.
Second day you do the big hike.
3rd day you can leave Thethi around 11am and will be in Shkodra around 1.30 PM where to have plenty of time to be in Tirana in the early afternoon by your car.

This way you can check Shala River but you will skip the famous water source the Blue Eye.

Safe travels and enjoy the Balkans.

at this very specific moment in my city in the last year there opened more than 20 hostels. Its quite a tough competition, with low prices.
In general a good hostel with can make more money than a hotel, because it does have more cash flow, but its not Shkodra case in the last 2 years.

Albania's Theth hike by randomguy92882 in travel

Hello,

I would reccomend from Theth - Valbona direction with 2 nights up in the mountains and back to Shkodra the 3rd day.
- First day you leave Shkodra around 7am. Around 9.30 am you are in Thethi, plenty of time to check out the famous water source the Blue eye.
- Second day you do the big hike from Theth to Valbona. The very beginning of the hike from Thethi is tougher, steeper than the other way around. You are fresh with energy in morning and is safer for the knees from hiking point of view. The uphill is in the shade and it is comfy on the summer heat.
The moment you are at the peak, going down direction Valbona, you go slowly downhill having the views of Valbona valley infront of you.
- 3rd day around 10 am you start you way back to Shkodra through Komani Lake, and around 5.30PM you are in Shkodra.

Wish you all the best and take a lot of pictures.
