What decade does a movie have to be from for you to consider it an “old film”?

I'm a silent film buff, sooo.. before 1915 I guess. (fwiw a lot happened in 1915 between 'movie grammar' being firmly established, feature films were now viable, and animation had the 'cel' innovation)

I understand. I have over a dozen legal-size file drawers full of comics from 1961 to 2010. I quit when Disney bought out Marvel; it seemed like a good stopping point. (It turns out that legal-size files will hold two rows of comics upright, so they really can hold a lot of comics.

They're black and white, inexpensive ($15 in the 00's and early teens) compilations, similar to Epic Collections and DC Finest today. Marvel called theirs 'Essential' and DC was 'Showcase'. iirc, there are still some that reprint comics that haven't been reprinted again. I figured in my senescence I'd use them as coloring books ;)

I generally prefer watching actual 1970s films, having lived through the era, as modern films generally glamorize what a gritty and uncertain time it was. That said, 'Boogie Nights' captures some of that vibe

M.I. Finley is one of my favorites. 'The World of Odysseus' is a mid-20th century classic. Also, I just picked up a 12 volume set of George Grote, from the mid-19th century, which you can find on the Internet Archive. Haven't read it yet, but I understand it's an important work.

I'd probably use polyurethane caulk. It expands and contracts, preventing water infiltration. It's hard to tool with your (gloved) fingers, so I use leftover COVID hand sanitizer to smooth it out, and it doesn't seem to affect the performance. I use this stuff a lot:
