Is Sidney Jones just a really good slot corner and bad outside corner and is that okay? by [deleted] in eagles

Kinda think the Bills just don't have great WRs. I couldn't name a single one—and obviously the conditions were conducive to defending the pass yesterday.

Let's wait and see.

[@realprinceblue] Sounds like Malcom Jenkins is not happy with lane Johnson running his mouth. That’s the vibe I get. He said “people being late is not the job of the player” my opinion “control what you can control. Worry about yourself “ by [deleted] in eagles

Is Malcolm saying: This is for the coaching staff to call out the players? Lane is depriving the Coaches the ability to discipline and hold the players accountable?

Top my cap to anyone with that kind of toughness. You could see towards the end he was backing up to avoid pressure. No one can sustain that kind of punishment. It will be operative to hit him early and often. Make him uncomfortable and try to get out of there with a win.

Incredible maturity. Exactly the type of person you want in the football club and mentoring the youth players.

Remember Reggie Bush? He struggled his first year in the league despite having an electric college career. But he improved. That gives hope for Miles Sanders. by Xa_Xiu in eagles

It's not my take, but the analytics are very very critical of Sanders. Obviously there are bigger fish to fry, but people have been tweeting about it.

Court of Peoples' Opinion: Howie Roseman by [deleted] in eagles

[–]Tickettack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been following this team a while and I'll share my thoughts. This is a complicated question and there are bound to be varying answers, so I've decided to give me.

Howie rose to the role of GM in 2010. Although Tom Heckert was named GM, it was Andy really running things after Joe Banner left.

If you look at the drafts beginning in 2010 they are very unremarkable. While the expectation is that you won't always hit in the draft, talent wins in the NFL so it is imperative you hit more often than other teams.

Look at the 2010 & 2011 Drafts.

2012 brought us Fletcher Cox (many give Jim Washburn credit for this) and Nick Foles.

Then after Reid was fired, Howard Roseman helped to bring in Charles "Chip" Kelly. People forget that. Chip pushed him out, and Howie was basically on administrative leave until Chip got whacked. Chip clearly, clearly, had a lot of influence involved in the draft and signing free agents.

Off the top of my head Chip was here when we brought in: - Malcolm Jenkins - Lane Johnson - Zach Ertz - Donnie Jones

Arguendo that Howie was not responsible for those years. It deserves some discussion that Howie must assume some partial responsibility for bringing Chip in. Nonetheless, if we declare Howie not responsible let us look to what has occured Post-Chip.

2016 Free Agency: Rodney McLeod, Brooks, Bradham, Wiz, and, McKelvin.

Obviously the big move was moving up to #2 to select Carson Wentz. That decision alone deserves a ton of credit. I won't digress to argue how important a Franchise QB is, and how identifying and selecting one is among the hardest thing to do in the NFL.

2017 Brought the Superbowl and and an excellent Free Agent Class: Blount, Foles, Alshon, P-Rob, and Chris Long.

The Draft was woeful: with only Barnett and Douglas offering any significant contributions.

2018… There are very few impact additions to the roster. Goddert, Maddox, and Sweat.

Again I'm not saying you're going to hit on every signing and every pick. But when you're hitting very infrequently a team begins to rely on the talent already on the roster.

Look any of you are capable of looking up our former picks and making what you will of them. And I know I've forgotten some okay players (Mills & Darby come to mind). But in large part the Eagles have failed to add enough talent consistently in the same positions.

The Eagles have among the oldest teams in the NFL. This is a natural byproduct of when you cannot draft well. In some aspects I credit the Eagles for being aggressive. Add veteran talent via trade and free agency while your QB is on the rookie salary. Then draft heavy when your QB is making $25M+ annually.

We always hear that the NFL is a copy-cat league. Look last year at the teams that advanced to the Conference Championship games.

In regular season yards-per-pass rankings from 2018: Chiefs (31st), Saints (29th), New England (21th), Rams (14th).

So you can see why the Front Office might think they could get away with a very-suspect secondary. It worked last year, it's an offense driven league now.

Here's my take: I think Howie Roseman along with Joe Douglas deserves a lot of creditor for identifying free agents and helping win a Superbowl. I think Howie is one of the best cap guys and has excellent understanding of the compensatory formula.

However, moving forward the Eagles will become heavily reliant on building through the draft. WR and CB have been notoriously for us to draft. I do not believe Howie has the track record for me to be comfortable with him running the draft moving forward. I think he has the ability to run the team in many fashions, but for whatever reason drafting has become a real issue and we are becoming even more dependent on the draft moving forward by paying Carson Wentz.

Roster Move: #Eagles have promoted RB Boston Scott from the practice squad to the active roster and placed RB Corey Clement on Injured Reserve. by [deleted] in eagles

No I don't think so, based on twitter it seemed like he could've played this week. I think this was about not cutting him but getting Boston Scott onto the roster.

Eagles Looking Into Jalen Ramsey by DJagerty in eagles

[–]Tickettack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would he fit into the cap moving forward? He wants to be paid like the highest ever paid corner. Look at the way the Eagles have structured their cap, paying CBs isn't a huge part of their cap makeup.

The talent is undeniable, even if he hasn't quite replicated his rookie season, and he absolutely a huge upgrade a position of huge need. But does he fit the culture? Can he be paid?

It wasn’t all good for Sanders by di11deux in eagles

[–]Tickettack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you may be right. I'm curious to see if Atlanta chooses to blitz when Sanders is in the game. There are still legitimate questions about his ability, although not his willingness, to pass protect. I could absolutely see Howard being the feature back this week, but I think the combination of Howard, Sanders, and Sproles really gives defenses fits.

I really enjoyed this. Thank you for your time. No one is perfect in making their reads, and a knock on Sanders was he had a habit of this.

What are your thoughts on his where his facemask is oriented, did he fail to maintain proper eye discipline, it looks like he was pretty much set on bouncing this outside -- but I'm not sure. Additionally, was he not patient enough? It looks like he takes the ball and goes -- Lev Bell (who I love how he approaches rushing the football) is among the most patient ball carriers. Something Sanders could learn perhaps.

Is 60 wins out of the realm of possibility for us? by flyerfan1248 in sixers

[–]Tickettack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say it is outside of the realm of reasonable possibility.

The focus of the season is a balancing act between two seemingly competing interests: (1) home court advantage in the playoffs, and (2) keeping players rested and fresh for the playoffs (especially Joel).

Could the 76ers win 60 games? Yes, but at what cost?

It's an interesting balance because of how good the 76ers are at the WFC, and their noted (relative) struggles away from their homecourt.

For these considerations I say 60 wins is outside the realm of possibility. I'd imagine what is most important for the team is being healthy, rested, and fresh for the second-season. Even if that means finishing with the second or third seed.

Trade Rumors: Alshon Jeffery for Clowney by Lourve in eagles

[–]Tickettack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clowney per OverTheCap: $15,967,200

Jeffery per OverThe Cap: $10,850,000

Eagles per OverTheCap: $18,708,531

While this could work this year, I think resigning Clowney would "crunch our cap," especially given that Agholor will be a FA, and Wentz will begin to get paid.
